NOTICE HOW MANY RECORDS STILL HOLD BEFORE 2000.
NOTICE HOW MANY RECORDS STILL HOLD BEFORE 1990
NOTICE HOW MANY RECORDS STILL HOLD BEFORE 1985
NOTICE HOW MANY RECORDS STILL HOLD BEFORE 1980
NOTICE HOW MANY RECORDS ARE HELD BY HORSES 4 YEARS AND OLDER
NOTICE THAT 4 RECORDS ARE STILL HELD BY 7 YEAR OLD HORSES
SO WITH ALL THE MODERN "THIN IT DOWN TO LOOK LIKE A HUGE
GREYHOUND" (hence prone to more injury and led braking) MENTALITY
IN THE THOROUGHBRED RACE HORSING WORLD, IT DOES NOT WORK, AND
REALLY SHOULD BE PROHIBITED FOR THE REASON OF LOVING THE HORSE,
AND NOT DEMANDING A 1,000 POUND PLUS HORSE RACE ON SUPER SPIDER
LEGS.
THERE HAS ONLY BEEN ***6*** WORLD RECORDS SET SINCE AND
INCLUDING THE YEAR 2,000.
I CALL ON THE THOROUGHBRED HORSE WORLD TO GET BACK TO BREEDING AS IT WAS IN THE PAST DECADES BEFORE 1990, FOR THE LOVE OF THE
HORSE, AND NOT THE LOVE OF MONEY.

INTERESTING THAT THE 1/4 MILE AND 1/2 MILE ARE PRETTY WELL NOSED
OUT BY A THOROUGHBRED HORSE, BUT IN THE 1/4 MILE THE QUARTER
HORSE WAS CARRYING 6 POUNDS MORE WEIGHT, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT THE TRACK AND WIND CONDITION WAS. IN THE 1/2 MILE THE THOROUGHBRED NOSED OUT THE QUARTER HORSE, BUT THE QUARTER HORSE CARRIED 4 POUNDS MORE WEIGHT, AND AGAIN THE TRACK AND WIND CONDITIONS ARE NOT RECORDED.
LOOKING AT THE RACING QUARTER HORSE TODAY YOU CANNOT TELL VERY
MUCH DIFFERENCE FROM THE RACING THOROUGHBRED, MAYBE IN HEIGHT IS
THE LARGEST DIFFERENCE, PUTTING ASIDE THE MODERN BREEDING OF
SPIDER TYPE LEGS IN THE THOROUGHBRED.
You may be asking as to the reason why there could be about 2 seconds
faster today in many of these world records, as compared to the
days and era of the 1930s. Is it really that the horses are just
that much better today than Man O War, Seabiscuit, War Admiral and com-
pany? No, not really! It's pretty simple as Laura Hillenbrand (who
been writing about thoroughbred racing since 1988 and contributing
editor/writer of "EQUUS" magazine since 1989) tells you in the
"Seabiscuit" book - the modern dirt race tracks are about 2 seconds
faster than the ones in the 1930s. Space-age dirt kinda (except when
it rains).
IT'S ALL INTERESTING IF YOU ARE INTO RACE HORSES.
