FEAST  OF  UN-LEAVENED

BREAD  2016  -  LAST  HOLY  DAY

CERTAINLY  DURING  THIS  FEAST  WE  THINK  ABOUT,  MEDITATE  UPON  SIN!  WE  HAVE  PUT  OUT  LEAVENED  PRODUCTS  FROM  OUR  HOME,  OR  AS  MUCH  AS  WE  CAN  DEPENDING  ON  OUR  SITUATION [I.E. UN-CONVERTED MATE].

YES  SIN  WE  CAN  SEE  ALL  AROUND  US,  ON  THE  NEWS  EVERYDAY.  WE  SEE  THE  SLIPPING  AWAY  OF  THE  WESTERN  WORLD  FROM  THE  BIBLE,  AND  INTO  MORE  REASONINGS  OF  SECULARISM.

YES  WE  KNOW  FROM  READING  THE  BIBLE  THE  LAW,  COMMANDMENTS,  PRECEPTS,  ADMONITIONS,  OF  THE  LORD,  TELLS  US  WHAT  SIN  IS.

THAT  IS  ONE  SIDE  OF  THE  LAW  OF  GOD  -  SHOWING  US  WHAT  SIN  IS [1  JOHN 3:4; ROMANS 7:7].

BUT  THE  OTHER  SIDE  OF  THE  LAW....... THE  OTHER  SIDE  IS  AS  PAUL  SAID,  "WHEREFORE  THE  LAW  IS  HOLY,  AND  THE  COMMANDMENTS,  HOLY,  JUST,  AND  GOOD" [ROMANS 7:12].

SO  IT'S  NOT  WRONG  DURING  THIS  FEAST,  TO  LOOK  AT  THE  OTHER  SIDE  OF  THE  LAW.  WHEN  I  WAS  A  KID  IN  THE  CHURCH  OF  ENGLAND [ANGLICAN]  SCHOOL  SYSTEM [FROM  GRADE  1  TO  12],  THE  FIRST  HALF  HOUR  EVERY  SCHOOL  DAY  WAS  "IN  THE  BIBLE"  -  I  HAD  WHEN  ABOUT  10  OR  11,  TO  LEARN  BY  MEMORY  PSALM 1.

BLESSED  IS  THE  MAN  THAT  WALKS  NOT  IN  THE  COUNSEL  OF  THE  UNGODLY,  NOR  STANDS  IN  THE  WAY  OF  SINNERS,  NOR  SITS  IN  THE  SEAT  OF  THE  SCORNFUL.  BUT  HIS  DELIGHT  IS  IN  THE  LAW  OF  THE  LAW,  AND  IN  HIS  LAW  DOES  HE  MEDITATE  DAY  AND  NIGHT.  AND  HE  SHALL  BE  LIKE  A  TREE  PLANTED  BY  THE  RIVERS  OF  WATER,  THAT  BRINGS  FORTH  HIS  FRUIT  IN  HIS  SEASON;  HIS  LEAF  ALSO  SHALL  NOT  WITHER  AND  WHATSOEVER  HE  DOES  SHALL  PROSPER.  THE  UNGODLY  ARE  NOT  SO,  BUT  ARE  LIKE  THE  CHAFF  WHICH  THE  WIND  DRIVES  AWAY.  THEREFORE  THE  UNGODLY  SHALL  NOT  STAND  IN  THE  JUDGMENT,  NOR  SINNERS  IN  THE  CONGREGATION  OF  THE  RIGHTEOUS.  FOR  THE  LORD  KNOWS  THE  WAY  OF  THE  RIGHTEOUS,  BUT  THE  WAY  OF  THE  UNGODLY  SHALL  PERISH.

MY  OH  MY,  WHAT  A  PSALM;  WHAT  A  PSALM  TO  LEAD  OFF  THE  BOOK  OF  PSALMS.

THAT  IS  PRETTY  STRAIGHT  UP  AND  IN  YOUR  FACE  SHALL  WE  SAY,  FROM  THE  LORD.  BUT  FOR  THOSE  WHO  LOVE  THE  LAWS  OF  GOD,  IT  IS  UPLIFTING  AND  WONDERFUL,  IT  IS  INSPIRING.

I  LOVED  MEMORIZING  THAT  PSALM  AS  A   KID!

I  HAD  NO  QUARREL  WITH  THE  LAW  AND  COMMANDMENTS  OF  THE  ETERNAL  GOD.  I  LOOKED  AT  THEM  ALL  AND  SAID  TO  MYSELF,  "WOW....IF  THE  WORLD,  ALL  NATIONS  WERE  OBEYING  THE  COMMANDMENTS  OF  GOD,  WHAT  A  FANTASTIC,  BEAUTIFUL,  LOVELY  WORLD  IT  WOULD  BE."

AS  A  CHILD  IN  SCHOOL  I  HAD  TO  LEARN  THE  TEN  COMMANDMENTS  BY  MEMORY,  AS  GIVEN  IN  EXODUS  20.  THE  FULL  LONG  VERSION  NOT  THE  ABBREVIATED  VERSION.  I  COULD  RECITE  THE  4TH  COMMANDMENT  IN  THE  LONG  VERSION.  BACK  IN  THE  1950s  THE  LOCAL  TOWN  SHUT  DOWN  ON  SUNDAY,  THERE  WERE  NO  PRO  SOCCER  MATCHES  ON  SUNDAY;  EVEN  THE  MOVIE  THEATERS  CLOSED  DOWN.  IT  WAS  "CHURCH  DAY"  OR  PUT  UP  YOUR  FEET  AND  RELAX,  OR  HAVE  TIME  WITH  FAMILY,  RELATIVES,  FRIENDS.  I  WENT  OF  THE  MY  LOCAL  CHURCH  SUNDAY  SCHOOL,  EVERY  SUNDAY,  JUST  ABOUT  NEVER  MISSED  FROM  AGE  6  TO  18,  UNLESS  ON  HOLIDAYS  WITH  MY  PARENTS.

I  KNEW  WHAT  THE  4TH  COMMANDMENT  SAID!  I  LOOKED  AROUND  AND  ALL  I  SAW  WAS  A  SOCIETY  RESTING  ON  SUNDAY.  AS  A  KID  I  NEVER  PAID  ANY  ATTENTION  TO  A  "CALENDAR"  -  AND  NO  GROWN  UP  ANYWHERE  EVER  POINTED  OUT  TO  ME  SUNDAY  WAS  NOT  THE  7TH  DAY  OF  THE  WEEK.  SO  I  GREW  UP  BELIEVING  SUNDAY  WAS  THE  7TH  DAY  OF  THE  WEEK.  WHAT  A  SHOCK  WHEN  COMING  TO  WESTERN  CANADA  AT  AGE  18,  THAT  I  LEARNED  FROM  MY  BAPTIST  LANDLORD,  SUNDAY  WAS  THE  FIRST  DAY  OF  THE  WEEK.  I  GREW  UP  NOT  KNOWING  WHAT  A  JEW  WAS,  AND  CERTAINLY  NOT  KNOWING  THEY  OBSERVED  SATURDAY  AND  NOT  SUNDAY.

WELL  THAT'S  A  LITTLE  DIGRESSION.

BACK  TO  THE  LAW  OF  GOD.

PAUL  SURE  DID  NOT  THINK  THE  LAW  AND  COMMANDMENTS  OF  GOD  WAS  "EVIL"  OR  "DONE  AWAY  WITH"  OR  "AN  OLD  RELIC  OF  A  BY-GONE  AGE."  HE  CALLED  IT  HOLY,  JUST,  AND  GOOD,  AS  WE  HAVE  SEEN.  IN  FACT  HE  SAID  HE  WOULD  NOT  HAVE  KNOWN  SIN  BUT  BY  THE  LAW  TELLING  US  WHAT  SIN  IS.

JESUS  IN  MATTHEW  19  SAID  TO  THE  MAN  ASKING  HIM  THE  WAY  OF  LIFE,  ".....IF  YOU  WILL  ENTER  INTO  LIFE,  KEEP  THE  COMMANDMENTS."  THE  MAN  ASKED  HIM  WHICH.....JESUS  QUOTED  ENOUGH  OF  THE  TEN  COMMANDMENTS  TO  CLEARLY  TELL  US  WHAT  COMMANDMENTS  HE  WAS  REFERRING  TO  -  OBVIOUSLY  THE  TEN  COMMANDMENTS!

IT  WAS  NOT  UNTIL  I  CAME  TO  CANADA  AND  SHALL  WE  SAY  BUMPED  INTO  THE  NORTH  AMERICAN  FUNDAMENTAL  CHURCHES,  THAT  I  GOT  THIS  "LAW  DONE  AWAY  WITH"  THEOLOGY.  AS  I  PONDERED  THEIR  ARGUMENTS  OVER  ABOUT  ONE  AND  HALF  YEARS,  I  REALIZED  THEIR  "LAW  DONE  AWAY"  STUFF  WAS  BECAUSE  OF  THE  4TH  COMMANDMENT.  IT  WAS  A  SAD  BUT  EYE  OPENING,  MIND-BENDING  TIME  OF  REAL  DEEP  BIBLE  STUDY  FOR  ME;  HAVING  TO  REALIZE  THAT  JUST  ABOUT  ALL  CHRISTIANITY  I  KNEW  AND  GREW  UP  IN,  WAS  DECEPTIVE,  FALSE,  AND  WELL.....SOME  FEW  WERE  SINCERE  IN  BELIEVING  THE  SABBATH  COMMAND  WAS  CHANGED  TO  SUNDAY.

BACK  ONCE  MORE  TO  PASSAGES  ABOUT  THE  LAW,  COMMANDMENTS,  PRECEPTS,  ADMONITIONS  OF  GOD.

PSALM  111  HAS  SOME  GREAT  VERSES:

.....ALL  HIS [GOD'S]  COMMANDMENTS  ARE  SURE.  THEY  STAND  FAST  FOREVER  AND  EVER,  AND  ARE  DONE  IN  TRUTH  AND  UPRIGHTNESS.....THE  FEAR  OF  THE  LORD  IS  THE  BEGINNING  OF  WISDOM;  A  GOOD  UNDERSTANDING  HAVE  ALL  THEY  WHO  DO  HIS  COMMANDMENTS...." [7-10].    

THEN  WE  HAVE  THE  LONGEST  SPALM  OF  THEM  ALL  -  PSALM  119.......  THE  VERSES,  SO  MANY  OF  THEM,  VERSE  AFTER  VERSE  PRAISING  THE  LAW,  COMMANDMENTS, PRECEPTS,  WAYS,  OF  THE  ETERNAL  GOD.

LET'S  LOOK  AT  SOME:

"Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who WALK in the LAW of the lord." 

"Then shall I not be ashamed, when I HAVE RESPECT UNTO ALL THY COMMANDMENTS."

"With  my  whole  heart  Have  I  sought  thee:  O  let  me  not  wander  from  thy  COMMANDMENTS."

"Thy  word  have  I  hid  in  my  heart,  that  I  might  not  sin  against  thee."

"I  will  meditate  in  thy  precepts,  and  have  respect  unto  thy  ways."

"Open  my  eyes,  that   I  may  behold  wondrous  things  out  of  thy  LAW."

"You  have  rebuked  the  proud  that  are  cursed,  which  do  err  from  thy  COMMANDMENTS."

"You  testimonies  also  are  my  DELIGHT  and  my  COUNSELLORS."

"Remove  from  me  the  way  of  lying:  and  give  your  LAW  graciously."

"I  will  run  the  way  of  your  COMMANDMENTS.  when  you  shall  enlarge  my  heart."

"Make  me  to  go  in  the  path  of  your  COMMANDMENTS;  for  therein  do  I  DELIGHT."

"So  shall  I  KEEP  your  LAW  continually  for  ever  and  ever."

"And  I  will  walk  at  LIBERTY,  for  I  seek  your  PRECEPTS."

"And  I  will  DELIGHT  myself  in  your  COMMANDMENTS,  which  I  have  LOVED."

"HORROR  has  taken  hold  of  me,  because  of  the  WICKED  that  forsake  your  LAW."

"I  made  haste,  and  delayed  not  to  KEEP  your  COMMANDMENTS."

"T each  me  good  judgment  and  knowledge:  for  I  have  BELIEVED  your  COMMANDMENTS."

"ALL  your  COMMANDMENTS  are  faithful:  they  persecute  we  wrongfully;  help  me."

"HOW  I  LOVE  YOUR  LAW,  IT  IS  MY  MEDITATION  ALL  THE  DAY."

"You  through  your  COMMANDMENTS have  made  me  wiser  than  my  enemies…..I  have  more  understanding  than  all  my  teachers:  for  your  TESTIMONIES  are  my  meditation.  I  understand  more  than  the  ancients,  because  I  keep  your  PRECEPTS.  I  have  refrained  my  feet  from  every  evil  way,  that  I  might  KEEP  your  WORD."

"Your  WORD  is  a  LAMP  unto  my  feet,  and  a  light  unto  my  path."

"I  have  vain  thoughts:  but  your  LAW  do  I  LOVE."

"Depart  from  me  you  evil  doers:  for  I  will  KEEP  the  COMMANDMENTS  of  my  God."

"It  is  time  for  you  to  WORK  Lord,  for  they  have  made  VOID  your  LAW."

"Therefore  I  LOVE  your  COMMANDMENTS  above  gold;  yes,  above  fine  gold."

"I  opened  my  mouth,  and  panted:  fir  I  longed  for  your  COMMANDMENTS."

"RIVERS  OF  WATER  run  down  my  eyes,  because  they  keep  NOT  your  LAW."

"Your  righteousness  is  an  everlasting  RIGHTEOUSNESS,  and  your  LAW  is  the  TRUTH."

"Your  are  near  O  LOrd,  and  ALL  your  COMMANDMENTS  are  TRUTH."

[Should  remind  you  of  of  Jesus'  answer to the  young  man  who  asked  what  he  needed  to  do  to  have  eternal  life;  Jesus'  answer  was  "Keep  the  Commandments" - Mat.19  -  Keith Hunt]

"My  tongue  shall  speak  of  your  word:  for  ALL  your  COMMANDMENTS  are  RIGHTEOUSNESS,"

"I  have  not  gone  astray  like  a  lost  sheep;  see  your  servant;  for  I  do  NOT  FORGET  your  COMMANDMENTS."

SOME  WILL  ARGUE  ALL  THIS  IS  IN  THE  OLD  TESTAMENT.

WELL  OKAY,  LET'S  SEEK  WHAT  THE  NEW  TESTAMENT  HAS  TO  SAY.

"….IF  YOU  WILL  ENTER  INTO  LIFE  KEEP  THE  COMMANDMENTS."  Jesus'  words [Mat.19  and  Jesus  goes  on  to   say  what   some  are…. obviously  the  Ten  Commandments  -  Keith Hunt]

"Do  we  then  make  VOID  the  LAW  through  faith?  God  forgive!  We  ESTABLISH  it" [Romans 3:31].

"Wherefore  the  LAW  is  holy,  and  the  COMMANDMENT  holy,  and  just,  and  good" [Romans 7:12].

"For  I  delight  in  the  LAW  of  God,  after  the  inward  man" [Romans 7:22].

"Circumcision  is  nothing,  and  uncircumcision  is  nothing but [on the other hand] the  KEEPING  of  the  COMMANDMENTS  of  God  [  is  everything]"  

"The  SABBATH was  made  for  man,  and  not  man  for  the  Sabbath" [Jesus - Mark 2:27].

"There  remains  therefore  a  Sabbath  keeping [margin] to  the  people  of  God" [Hebrew 4:9]

"Hereby we do know  that  we  know  Him,  if  we  KEEP  his  COMMANDMENTS.  He  that  says  I  know  him,  and  keeps  NOT  his  COMMANDMENTS,  is  a liar,  and  the  truth  is  not  in  him" [James 2:3, 4].

"Whosoever practices  sin  transgresses  also  the  LAW:  for  SIN  IS  the  transgression  of  the  LAW" [1 John 3:4].

"And  whatsoever  we  ask,  we  receive  of  him,  because  we  KEEP  his  COMMANDMENTS,  and  DO  the  things  that  are  pleasing  to  him" [1 John 3:22].

"For  this  IS  the  LOVE  of  God,  that  we  KEEP  his  COMMANDMENTS:  and  his  COMMANDMENTS  are  not  grievous" [I John 5:3].

"And  this  IS  love,  that  we  WALK  after  his  COMMANDMENTS…." [2 JOHN 6].

"Here  is  the  patience  of  the  saints;  here  are  they  that  KEEP  the  COMMANDMENTS  of  God,  and  the  faith  of  Jesus" [Revelation 14:12].

"Blessed  are  they  that  DO  his  COMMANDMENTS,  that  they  may  have  right  to  the  tree  of  life,  and  may  enter  in  through  the  gates  into  the  city" [Revelation 22:14].

WHY  DO  PEOPLE  DOWN-PLAY,  WANT  TO  SAY  THE  LAW  IS  "DONE  AWAY"?

THEY  USUALLY  HAVE  NO  DIFFICULTY  WITH  9  OF  THE  COMMANDMENTS!  CHRISTIANS  WOULD  SAY  IF  THE  WORLD  WAS  OBEYING  THOSE  9,  IT  WOULD  BE  A  FANTASTIC  WORLD.

IT  IS  THE  4TH  COMMANDMENT  THAT  MOST  CHRISTIANS  HAVE  TROUBLE  WITH,  DON'T  FIND  IT  IMPORTANT,  DON'T  THINK  IT'S  RELATIVE  IN  TODAYS  WORLD.  SURELY  THEY  SAY,  YOU  DON'T  HAVE  TO  OBSERVE  THE  4TH  COMMANDMENTS  IN  THE  SPACE  AGE  WORLD.

BUT  JAMES  WAS INSPIRED  TO  TELL  US  THAT  THE  LAW  HAD  "POINTS"  AND  IF  YOU  BREAK  ONE  POINT  YOU  BREAK  THEM  ALL  -  SEE  JAMES  2: 10-12.

YOU  CAN  NOT  JUST  SMASH  OUT  ONE  POINT  OF  THE  LAW;  THEY  STAND  OR  FALL  TOGETHER; THEY  ARE  ONE  SOLID  UNIT.

AND  IF  THE  SABBATH  DAY  LAW  WAS  GOING  TO  BE  CHANGED,  YOU  CAN  GUARANTEE  THERE  WOULD  HAVE  BEEN  A  "CHURCH  CONFERENCE"  REGARDING  SUCH  A  MIGHTY  IMPORTANT  MATTER,  AS  THERE  WAS  ON  THE  "CIRCUMCISION"  LAW  -  ACTS  15.  THE  SABBATH  DAY  COMMAND  WAS  AS  HIGH  IN  ESTEEM  AS  THE  CIRCUMCISION  LAW  WITH  THE  JEWS.  IF  THE  SABBATH  OF  THE  7TH  DAY,  WAS  GOING  TO  BE  TRANSFERRED  TO  THE  1ST  DAY  OF  THE  WEEK,  THE  NEW  TESTAMENT  WOULD  HAVE  MADE  IT  AS  CLEAR  AS  IT  DID  THE  CIRCUMCISION  DEBATE.  CIRCUMCISION  WAS  NOT  EVEN  PART  OF  THE  GREAT  TEN  COMMANDMENTS,  YET  IT  WAS  DEBATED;  CAN  YOU  SEE  THE  DEBATE  OVER  THE  SABBATH  DAY WOULD  HAVE  BEEN  EVEN  GREATER  TO  BRING  BEFORE  THE  WHOLE  CHURCH  OF  GOD.  TWO  THINGS  WOULD  HAVE  EVOLVED…… EIGHER  A  DEBATE  TO  "KEEP  OR  NOT  KEEP"  THE  WEEKLY  SABBATH  DAY,  OR  A  DEBATE  TO  "CHANGE"  THE  SABBATH  DAY  FROM  THE  7TH  TO  THE  1ST  DAY  OF  THE  WEEK.  THERE  WAS  NEVER  ANY  SUCH  DEBATE.

YES  MOST  CHRISTIANS  TODAY  DO  NOT  BELIEVE  THE  SABBATH  DAY  COMMAND  IS  RELEVANT  IN  OUR  FAST-LIVING  WORLD;  THEY  ARE  VERY  VERY  WRONG!

LOVING  THE  LAW  AND  ALL  OF  GOD'S  WAYS  IS  THE  PURPOSE  OF  THIS  GREAT  FEAST  OF  UN-LEAVENED  BREAD;  TO  ACKNOWLEDGE  SIN;  THAT  WE  ARE  SINNERS,  AND  TO  DESIRE  TO  PUT  ON  THE  WHITE  GARMENT  OF  THE  RIGHTEOUSNESS  OF  GOD,  WHICH  IS  INDEED  THE  KEEPING  OF  HIS  COMMANDMENTS.
