AS THE WORLD TURNS
What a week it has been up to this November 7th 2009.
The Fort Hood military base was rocked with one of their own
killing 13 and wounding 30 or more. A shocking event and terrible
loss for so many families. It's hard to loose anyone in time of
war, but to loose them from within is a double curse.

Britain also lost 5 soldiers in one attack, kinda also from
within, as they trained Afghans to fight for themselves.
......
The Philippines was rocked with another typhoon - the 4th to hit
them in one month - yes one month. A thousand or so still
displaced from the previous typhoons.
......
The UN was going to pull out half its staff from Afghanistan.
Decided in the end to pull out 200 and send 400 to other safer
parts of the country.
......
One year after Obama became President of the USA, two local
election saw the Republicans take the win. A blow for Obama and
the Democrats. Bill Clinton will be playing the blues on his
saxophone.

GM suddenly reversed its plan to sell OPEL - the Europe part of
its car manufacturing. They had a better market of late, so feel
they need to hand on to Opel, but still cutting about 10,000
jobs. Germany and other parts of Europe not too happy with this
reversal.

Ford motors on the other hand (never asking for a bail-out) have
ONE BILLION, yes with a B folks - PROFIT. As one "expert" said,
in times of trouble you have to do "product" and "product" and
more "product" - and Ford has done so. They are obviously
producing some good stuff from their production line. I must
admit, I've had Ford cars for many years, since the Taurus was
"car of the year" in 1987.

British Airways loose about 480 million dollars since June.
Needless to say they are thinking fast how to cut their losses.

The G20 are meeting once more, this time in Scotland, to keep on
figuring how to keep the world pulling slowly out of this
recession. And the "green" planet, and how to get Canada and the
North and South pole back to freezing cold again (you know, back
to regular temperatures once more, or the way it's been for the
past few thousand year). Boy, they'll have to figure out how to
keep China and India from steaming us to death, with smoke and
carbon and whatever else they throw up (which we the West sure
did also for decades in the past ... hummmm, and still are doing
... North America has still got to clean up its act yet).

20 years since the Berlin "wall" came crashing down. Yep, can
remember exactly where I was and what I was doing (actually
watching the news) when it happened. As people said back then,
Europe was entering a new era. Yes, indeed so, but as I also said
then, and still today say, Europe has a way to go before it
becomes the Great Beast Power of end time prophecy. Keep your eye
on it though.

The huge RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) posted its loss of FIVE
BILLION - yes with a B again.

Finally for this meltdown, we have the contradiction of "pulling
out of recession" for the USA, handed to us by Wall Street and
the media, and the truth of the matter. The UN-employed in the
USA reached 10.2 percent, the highest since 1983. Then they tell
us when you take into account those with only PART time jobs, and
people who have given up looking altogether for work, the 10.2
rises to 17.5 percent.
People are looking for jobs among all ages. From those leaving
College and University to those in their 40s and 50s being laid
off work.
As I've said many times before, the recession is not over until
people in the USA are back to work and they are spending money
once more.

Oh .... the Yankees won the World Series of Baseball, for I think
they said the 27th time in history, but it's been a while since
last time.
