AS THE WORLD TURNS
April 23rd 2010. Many things have been happening over the last
little while.
China earthquake - devastation was great - about 1,100 deaths -
thousands homeless.

A volcano in Iceland blew its top and the cloud of ash swept
across Europe to bring to a grinding halt air flights into many
major counties - 100s of thousands stuck - no flights in and no
flights out. They figure it's cost the many airlines over a
BILLION dollars. It is a marvel that the much larger volcano next
to this small one, did not blow its top as it has in the past
history when the small one went up in fire and ash.

50,000 homes destroyed in India by a cyclone, as often seems to
happen in some parts of India so it did not get very much news
coverage.
......
Goldman Sachs of the USA has been charged with fraud. It's all to
do with the Wall/Fall Street guys. Putting it in simple language
as one newscast did: Like selling a car with bad breaks and then
gambling it will crash. Only time and investigating will tell the
truth as to the charges being given to them, if they hold up.

The SCC of the USA is under investigation. While they were
supposed to be keeping an eye on the Wall Street people, many of
their employees were on office PCs and office time (sometimes
many hours a day) watching "porn" Websites. And it was women
as well as men. One gal in two weeks had visited 1,800 porn
Websites.

GM claims it has paid back the money given to them from tax
payers, to bail them out in the economic downslide, 5 years ahead
of time.
The Canadian GM is part of this claim, but according to one
expert, the break down is not that simple. Well GM seems to be
confident they are on the right track with their cars and trucks,
and thinks the future looks bright for them. Time will tell.

Thailand is still under great unrest and violence by the so-
called "red-shirts" - people not happy with the Government and
want to see it resign power and I guess new elections. Will be
interesting as to the outcome of it all.

A USA oil rig has blown up and sunk to the bottom of the sea in
the Gulf of Mexico. 11 lives were lost - a miracle it was not a
whole lot more. Now they fear it could turn into some huge
ecological nightmare.
......
We've known for many years that too much salt is in our "western"
diet. But they've felt they had to announce it again, this time
around, both the USA and Canadian Governments say they will get
in on the retake - bringing in laws that prohibit all this salt
in our foods. It's time they did just that. Also mentioned in the
same breath was "sugar" - we are eating far too much of it, and
can be as dangerous as too much salt.

To end this meltdown - a couple of "dog stories."
Moscow has this massive "homeless" dog society - not some
organized "society" to give dogs a home. No this is, they have
hundreds of dogs that live in the city that have made everyone
their owner. They walk the streets, people stop and pet them.
Some have learned to use the subway and travel to different parts
of the city, knowing where to get on and where to get off. Some
sleep on the subway trains for hours, while the train goes around
and around. They'll jump up on a train seat if empty and make
themselves at home. It was quite something to see all this on the
TV news. The dogs are not wild, they'll quite tame, they've made
everyone in the city their friends, and they all looked very
healthy. Yes, probably because people also feed them. So it can
be literally said that Moscow has gone to the dogs.
Then we have this German Shepherd. His owner is doing something
with his car; somehow the car gets on fire, with the owner in a
tight spot. He tells his dog "Go get help Buddy" (the dog's name
is Buddy). So off goes Buddy down the road barking for help. Who
comes driving along but a police man in his car. The dog is
barking at him and then turns around and leads him down the road
to the burning car.
All ends well, Buddy's owner gets rescued, with a few burns, but
nothing serious, and Buddy .... he gets some reward and on
National USA news.
Well done Buddy, well done boy!
