Obama becomes President of the USA

Overview from BOTH sides

                     44TH PRESIDENT OBAMA INAUGURATION
January 20th 2009. It was spectacular, massive, and a sight to
behold, a sight never seen in Washington like this history making
day, of the oath of office for Barack Obama as the 44th President
of the United States of America.
The opening prayer from the minister that caused some waves in
parts of the political circle because he is opposed to Abortion
and Same Sex marriage, hence a bold move by Obama choosing him to
being the opening prayer. He did close it through the name of
Jesus.
The stumble over words during the actual inauguration, and the
boyish smile from Obama, showed that these are true people here
not machines.
Obama's speech, as one commentator expressed it, "A beautiful
written speech." It was simple language, down to earth, straight-
forward, recounted history and sacrifice, and told the people
much was to be done, hard work and effort from everyone, to bring
back the USA as a mighty leading world nation. A hand was put
forth to all nations who are willing to work for peace, but also
pulled no punches to those who would establish themselves through
violence.
The poem read afterwards was touching and inspiring.
The closing prayer by one of the old civil-rights leaders of the
Martin Luther King days, was touching. The closing words of how
one day the world will know no more war, and tanks will be turned
into tractors, was to me especially moving.
There were words spoken that reminded me of the old tent camp
religious revival meetings of yesterday.
Oh indeed, if only there could be a revival back to the word and
truths of God. I fear after today is over, after the atmosphere
of words spoken by all today, have evaporated away, it will be
back to "business as usual" as far as the overall mind-set of the
leaders and people are concerned. I doubt there will be any
significant move from leaders and the people back to serving the
true God in spirit and in truth. I doubt there will be any
reverse direction on the issues of Abortion and Same Sex
marriage. The bottom line is that people are looking for a
reversal of physical and financial and job woes, NOT a reversal
back to following the laws and commandments of God. Certainly the
last thing on people's minds is a movement back to observing a
weekly Sabbath day rest.
The emotions of this day will soon fade away as people get back
to the reality of life as it now is in the United States of
America.
Words are cheap as the saying goes. I've heard an interview today
on CBC radio, an interview with the publisher and editor of
"Harper" magazine, a fellow from the USA. Apparently he and one
other guy who writes for a Chicago newspaper are about the only
two fellows who think Obama will NOT be revolutionize anything.
He claims Obama's political background, as with the Clinton lady,
is anything but "revolutionary." He is not convinced that the USA
will pull out of Iraq any time soon, and says that Obama has
already made it clear he will move more troops into Afghanistan.
Then today on CBC radio was an interview with an African-American
who has all the facts and figures over the last 40 years on the
situation of the blacks and whites in the USA. He says that at
the speed of things as over the last 40 years, it will take another
500 years for African-Americans to be on equal footing in jobs
and economic money issues with the whites of America. He has no
allusions until he sees it, that Obama will have any real impact
on anything concerning blacks and whites in the economics of
daily living. He says only time will tell if Obama can be the
revolutionary changer in USA society.
Sooooo ..... that's the other side of the coin.
I can say, as I've said before, that I can be pretty sure of one
thing, the Barack Obama and his team will NOT take the people of
the USA back to serving God in a true way, by and large the
people are not interested in hearing or following the "truth of
God's Word" - they just want their jobs and money back, the
physical "good life."
So now the emotions and hype and cheering are all over. From now
on out we shall see what changes for the better come from the
Obama administration.
                              ..............
To be continued from time to time
