AUSTRALIA BURNS AND DROWNS
February 9th 2009. The Province of Victoria in Australia went up
in flames like a dry tinder box it was. A heat wave plus
global warming has increased the fires in Australia, which is
known as one of the most frequent fire countries in the world.
Right now 173 have died, and many more in hospital expected to
die. Some of the fires the police say could have been
deliberately set.
Then in the North Eastern part of Australia, an area twice the
size of Spain is under water, flooding that is hard to imagine
over an area that large. No news of any lives lost, but property
damage will be staggeringly high.
Obama is still pressing the USA Senate and whoever etc. to pass
the now 820 BILLION dollar "stimulus" package. Seems it is not
going to pass that easily, Obama has had fight all the way so far.
Indeed not easy to govern the USA once in the White House, not
as easy as he may have thought it would be.
The State of Israel goes to the polls tomorrow. The "peace talks"
are now looked upon as a failure. The general leaders and
population are not for a Palestinian Land. They are saying a
fellow by the name of Leiberman will be the main winner even if
he does not become the Israeli Prime Minister. It will be a
Government Party that will have to be a coalition of political
parties.
Interesting days lie ahead for Israel and the Palestinians. The
violence will no doubt continue in the Holy Land.
It's getting like a stuck record or CD, but more jobs in more
large International Companies are laying off thousands of
workers, and the world economic slide down continues.
Needless to say in this world economic crash, company and
personal bankruptcies are sky rocketing. People just living to
close to the edge of financial ruin which eventually caught up to
them.
On the "sports" side another Baseball player, the highest paid
one, A'Rod as he is known, admits to using a banned substance. As
Obama, a Baseball fan said, "It tarnished probably a whole era."
What people will do to acquire fame and fortune. It is another
indication of the crazy and messy society we live in.
The one true hero we've had of late was "Sully" the nearly 60
year old pilot that landed his passenger jet on the Hudson river
and saved 155 lives, all on board. He has received letters and
cards from around the world, lifted the people to a hope and
knowledge that there are still some true skilled and talented
people out there who do not have to depend on steroids or banned
substances to hit a home run.
