THE PIG PEN!
July 11th. Well another week has come and gone. It was a busy
time at the Ranch with the second of eight summer camps for kids.
More rain than we wanted, and the outdoor arena very muddy. But
all went well. Friday was sunny and warm for the kids to put on
their show for their parents etc.
The big 8 economical countries have met again. They say they will
stop polluting the planet in a big way by 2050, but China and
India have made no such promise. They all know that if we get up
to 6 C more heat by the end of the century, we are going to be in
a life and death situation for all mankind to survive.
I saw a program Friday evening on Denmark and how they are
streaking ahead with self-sufficiency and "green" technology in
energy use - truly remarkable, all nations need to learn to
follow their example.
Wars and killing is moving along with ever devastation and
brutality in many nations.
GM is out of the pig pen of "bankruptcy" and has said it will
move into leaner but fit production. The lion of the car jungle
has been tamed to putter along and revamp itself. We shall see if
it can compete in an ever evolving space age auto industry. It's
about time, way over time, that the car industry got into space
age technology and leaner greener production. Oh yes, remembered
another point for Denmark, they have farm tractors running on
"rape seed oil" I think it was, well some natural grain oil
anyway.
Indeed the 40th anniversary of sending men to walk on the moon,
so if we could do that 40 years ago, we sure can make cars,
trucks, buses, and tractors, to run on green energy, and do away
with black oil and gas from under the earth. But "politics" gets
in the way all the time it seems.
Been reading this book on Sarah Palin and her climb to be
Governor of Alaska. From what I'm reading she ain't no dumb
fishing and hunting gal from the backwoods. Would not be
surprised she'll make a bid for the next President of the USA
come 2012. She may just be going "back to school" in the next
years to prepare herself for that run to the White House. Time
will tell.

AS I SEE IT: ARE WE IN THE PIG PEN YET?
In the Parable of the Prodigal Son the younger son says to
his father, "Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to
me. And he divided unto them his living." (Luke 15:12). Each of
the sons got his portion. The younger son then went off to a "far
country" and proceeded to waste his inheritance with his wild
living. He eventually spent all his money just at the time that
there was a severe famine in the land. He consequently fell into
complete humiliation when he had to get a job feeding pigs (an
unclean animal). He even longed to eat the husks that the swine
ate. These were long sweet beans from the carob or locust tree
that the poor people ate. He was literally in the pig pen. He
says that even his father's hired servants had food to eat and
even some to spare.
Is this not where we are headed? We had it all. A land
blessed with milk and honey. Every opportunity was offered to us.
Our lands were blessed by God and as long as we were obedient to
Him we thrived. This is all changing now as we have abandoned our
Father. We took our inheritance and squandered it. We are now in
a famine. This famine is not only a famine of food but a famine
of the Word of God. We are falling into the pig pen. We are sur-
rounding ourselves with swine and our world is unclean. I find
it interesting that the latest flu scare started out being called
"swine flu". We had it so good and we have given it away!
We often can only experience what God is like when we
hit rock bottom. The wayward son soon had a change of attitude.
He says in Luke 15: 18-19, "I will arise and go to my father, and
will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and
before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me
as one of thy hired servants." He has gone from being a selfish
"I want..." attitude to a "humble, repentant" attitude. Through
it all his father has been waiting and watching for his son.
Is this not what is happening today? Our Father has not
changed. He is waiting for us to change. He is waiting for us to
repent and humble ourselves. In the parable as soon as the son
said I have sinned, the father brought out the best robe, a ring
for his hand and shoes for his feet. This reminds me of Isa.65:
23-25, "They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for
trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and
their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before
they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will
hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion
shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's
meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,
saith the Lord." Once we have a change of heart the Lord will
instantly change our lives and free our lands. He knows the
condition of our hearts and he is waiting for us to wake up and
realize how sick we are.
In the parable the father says, "For this my son was dead,
and is alive again; he was lost, and is found." (Luke 15:24). Oh
what a day that will be when we come alive and realize who we are
and rejoice with our Father in Heaven.
The one good thing about living in the pig pen is that it is
the only way to wake us up. It is only through being broken that
we can come to repentance and a humble heart. May that time be
very soon?

How the world has indeed gone into the pig pen, the latest
example was that of the adoration of some pop singer called
Michael Jackson upon his, yes untimely and sudden death. I was
shocked, but again I should not have been I guess, at the claims
and words that came from the voices of the world, about this
mixed up and "strange" if not "perverted" guy, who was anything
but a role model for the young people of the world. My oh my what
a sight and sound over such a fellow. I'm glad I was busy at the
Ranch this last week, working with children who said not one word
about Michael Jackson, and who were enthusiastic about knowing
about me and my horse, being for one day (Friday) this fellow and
his horse known as Roy Rogers and Trigger. It is a joy to see
some children get wide-eyed over a man and his horse dressing up
in fancy cowboy clothes and a fabulous golden Palomino with a
silver saddle glittering in the sun. Ah, it was my pleasure to
direct them to the Roy Rogers Website, and the fellow who truly
was a role model to follow in clean, honest, wholesome living.
It's good to know there is some hope of not everyone living in
the pig pen.
