IF SUNDAY BECAME A HOLY DAY IN APOSTOLIC
TIMES, THEN WHERE'S THE JERUSALEM CONFERENCE?
by Keith Hunt
In reading fundamental Protestant literature, you come
across bold in your face statements like: "Sunday replaced the
Sabbath in apostolic days" or "Sunday soon became the day of
worship for the first century church" or "The first Christians
gave up the Jewish Sabbath for the Sunday Lord's Day."
We have answered the so-called "Scriptural arguments" given
by Protestants (who take them from the New Testament) in other
studies on this Website.
What I want to bring to your attention here is a simple
argument of COMMON LOGIC FROM THE JEWISH MIND!!
THERE WERE THREE INSTITUTIONS IN THE JEWISH WORLD IN
THE FIRST CENTURY THAT TOOK MIGHTY IMPORTANCE IN JEWISH
LIFE:
(1) THE TEMPLE AND ITS SERVICE OF RITES AND SACRIFICES
(2) THE COVENANT OF PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION
(3) THE WEEKLY SABBATH - THE 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK
WE CAN SEE FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS THAT THE TEMPLE
AND EVEN ITS SERVICE WAS NOT ABANDONED OR DISRESPECTED
BY THE APOSTLES. PAUL TAUGHT YOU DID NOT HAVE TO
PARTAKE IN ANY TEMPLE RITE FOR SALVATION. BUT HE AND
THE APOSTLES DID NOT PREVENT OR PREACH OR TEACH THAT IT
WAS WRONG OR SIN TO PARTAKE OF TEMPLE RITES ***IF*** YOU
DESIRED.
WE SEE FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS AND PAUL'S WRITINGS
THAT PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION BECAME A DEBATE OF HUGE
PROPORTIONS, INSOMUCH AS TO FINALLY HAVE A JERUSALEM
MINISTER/CONGREGATION DEBATE AS TO WHETHER IT WAS REQUIRED
FOR SALVATION - ACTS 15. A DECISION WAS GIVEN THAT
PHYSICAL CIRCUMCISION WAS NOT REQUIRED FOR SALVATION!
NOW USE SOME COMMON LOGIC? PUT YOURSELF IN THE
SHOES OF JEWISH CHRISTIANS AT THE TIME OF CHRIST AND
THE FIRST APOSTLES. THE 7TH DAY WEEKLY SABBATH WAS AS
IMPORTANT TO THE JEWS AS THE TEMPLE AND AS PHYSICAL
CIRCUMCISION. IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE A CHANGE FROM
THE 7TH DAY SABBATH TO THE FIRST DAY SUNDAY AS THE NEW
CHRISTIAN HOLY DAY - THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AS GREAT
DEBATE OVER THE MATTER AS THERE WAS OVER THE CIRCUMCISION
QUESTION!!
THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING IN THE WRITINGS OF
PAUL REGARDING THIS NEW SABBATH DAY!!
THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUCH A MIGHTY DEBATE OVER THE
MATTER AMONG THE JEWS AND PRIESTS WHO HAD ACCEPTED JESUS
AS THE MESSIAH AND SAVIOR - THAT THERE WOULD CERTAINLY
HAVE HAD TO HAVE BEEN A JERUSALEM MINISTERIAL/CONGREGATIONAL
CONFERENCE DEBATE ON THE ISSUE AS TO A CHANGE FROM
MAKING THE FIRST DAY HOLY AND THE 7TH DAY UNHOLY!!
THERE IS NOT ONE WORD IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ABOUT
ANY SUCH THEOLOGICAL ISSUE OR DEBATE OVER WHICH DAY OF
THE WEEK WAS HOLY AND SANCTIFIED. THERE IS NOT ONE WORD
IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ABOUT ANY JERUSALEM CONFERENCE
DEBATE CALLED TO ASCERTAIN WHICH DAY OF THE WEEK WAS
GOD'S HOLY SABBATH DAY!!
I GUESS NOT!! FOR THE WORDS OF THE FOURTH
COMMANDMENT HAVE NEVER BEEN CHANGED; NOT BY GOD; NOT BY
CHRIST; AND NOT BY ANY NEW TESTAMENT APOSTLE OR
SCRIPTURE.
THE HOLY SABBATH DAY - THE 7TH DAY OF THE WEEK -
THE DAY THE JEWS HAVE NEVER LOST COUNT OF - SATURDAY
ON OUR ROMAN CALENDAR - IS STILL 4TH THE COMMAND OF THE
LORD AS WRITTEN IN THE GREAT TEN COMMANDMENTS!!
YES, IT IS JUST THAT SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND, IF YOU
USE SOME COMMON LOGIC (WHICH MANY DO NOT WANT TO USE
TODAY) AND HAVE THE MIND OF A CHILD!!

P.S.
If you read the book of Jude you'll really now see why he had to
encourage people to earnestly contend for THE faith once
delivered to the saints!!!
Paul also had to say "For the mystery of iniquity doth ALREADY
work..." (2 Thes.2:7).
John proclaimed that "even now there are MANY anti-christs,
whereby you know it is the last time. They went out from us, but
were not a part of us .... that they might be made manifest that
they were not all a part of us" (1 John 2:18,19).
If it was the last time in John's day, how much more do you think
it is the last time today?
Jesus said that in the last time, before He returned, MANY would
come in His name and DECEIVE MANY (not the few), even IF possible
to deceive the very elect (read Matthew 24).
But for those who have the mind of a child and can still use some
common logic, they will not be deceived as to what are the truths
of God, AND as to which day of the week is the Holy Sabbath Day!
