JUDAH'S SCEPTRE AND JOSEPH'S BIRTHRIGHT #27 \r\n(A classic True Israel (British Israelism) book on the Celto-Saxon people's of God. \r\ndownload the full version of Judah's Sceptre and Joseph's Birthright<\/a>)\r\n\r\nby J.H.Allen (published in 1917)\r\n\r\n\r\nTHE TWO-FOLD ASPECT OF PROPHETIC ISRAEL\r\n\r\n\r\n     The multitude of people which was predicted for the house of\r\nJoseph never was realized while they dwelt in Samaria, their\r\nPalestinean home; but the increase of the Saxon race is\r\nacknowledged to be phenomenal. National statistics show that\r\nRussia doubles her population in 140 years, Spain in 142 years,\r\nFrance in 150 years, Turkey in 555 years; but that England\r\ndoubles her population every 45 years, and that the United States\r\ndoubles theirs in 25 years. This is a wonderful vindication of\r\nthe truth which we are bringing, for the word of truth declares:\r\n\"Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast increased the\r\nnation: thou hast removed it far unto all the ends of the\r\nearth.\"--Isa.26:15. The fulfillment of this prophecy is today\r\ncalled \"Imperialism.\"\r\n\r\n(Remember when Allen was writing was in 1917- Keith Hunt)\r\n\r\n     One of the first national characteristics mentioned in\r\nprophecy concerning Isaac's seed is, that they shall possess the\r\ngates of those that hate them. Gates are entrances. National\r\ngates are now called \"ports.\" Since the acquisition of the\r\nSandwich Isles, Porto Rico and the Philippines by the United\r\nStates, the Saxons control nearly all the national gateways of\r\nthe world. For, prior to that time, England and America\r\ncontrolled all the ports of the North American continent, and\r\nEngland possessed, not only all the ports of the British Isles\r\nand those in Australian waters, but also Gibraltar, Suez Canal,\r\nMalta, Alexandria, Cyprus Wand, gates into China, the German\r\nOcean, the Cape gate into the Indian Ocean, and all the gates of\r\nIndia, gates along the east and west coasts of Africa, and the\r\nCape Horn gate from the Atlantic into the Pacific Ocean. In the\r\nface of such foretold facts as these for the house of Joseph,\r\nneed we be surprised that God, who declareth the end from the\r\nbeginning, should include in the blessings of his birthright man,\r\n\"the deep that croucheth beneath\" his vessels ?\r\n     The Lord also says of Joseph, \"He shall push the people\r\ntogether, to the ends of the earth: and they (who together are\r\ndoing the pushing) are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are\r\nthe thousands of Manasseh.\" This seems to imply an alliance,\r\noffensive and defensive, on the part of these brother nations,\r\nthe outcome of which will be that they together shall push the\r\nrest of the nations to the ends of the earth. This alliance would\r\nbe but natural, for while it is true that brothers are apt to\r\nquarrel and fight among themselves, it is also true that one of\r\nthese brothers is not going to stand by and allow a stranger to\r\njump on his brother and thresh him. And while we write, the talk\r\nof just such an alliance is in the air, and we are sure the\r\nresult will be as God hath said.\r\n     God also further says, \"Behold, the people of Israel shall\r\nrise up as a great Lion, and lift himself as a young lion; he\r\nshall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink of the\r\nblood of the slain. He hath as it were the strength of an\r\nUnicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break\r\ntheir bones, and pierce them through with his ARROWS.\" We have\r\nrequoted this Scripture, concerning the eating up of the nations,\r\nso that our readers may see that, when this time of the\r\ndestruction of the nations comes, the Lion of Judah, which is\r\nwith Ephraim, the Unicorn of Ephraim, and the Arrows of Manasseh\r\nare together, i. e., England and America.\r\n     The Lord also says of this same people, \"The portion of\r\nJacob is not like them (destroyed); for he (God) is the former of\r\nall things: Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of\r\nhosts is his name. Thou art my BATTLE AX and WEAPONS OF WAR: for\r\nwith thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will\r\nI destroy kingdoms.\"--Jer.51:19-20. \"There is none like unto the\r\nGod of Jeshurun (symbol name for Israel), who rideth upon the\r\nheaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky. The eternal\r\nGod is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and\r\nhe shall thrust out the enemy from before thee ; and shall say,\r\nDestroy them. Israel then shall dwell in safety alone.\"--Deut.\r\n33: 26-27.\r\n     This is undoubtedly to be the final outcome of Israel's\r\nhistory, and yet, prior to this, and while they are dwelling in\r\nthe midst of other nations, it is said of them: \"The remnant of\r\nJacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the\r\nLord, as the showers upon the grass.\" And yet it is in the very\r\nnext verse that the prophet says of this same people, that they\r\nare the strongest power on earth, \"Who, if he go through, both\r\ntreadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.\"--\r\nMicah 5:7-8.\r\n     Here, to say the least, is a two-fold aspect, or two\r\ncharacteristics of the same race; that is, a people who are as\r\nthe refreshing and fruitful showers, and as dew from the Lord to\r\nthe nations around them; and yet they are a people whom none of\r\nthose nations who go to war with them can conquer. This double\r\nphase of character is due to the fact that they are that portion\r\nof the elect race with whom are those who also belong to the\r\nelection o f grace. This is both the national and the spiritual\r\ncharacter of the Christianized house of Joseph, for the Lord does\r\nsay of Ephraim-Israel, whom he says is in the isles afar off,\r\nwhom he also calls the nations, of whom he says, \"Thou shalt yet\r\nplant vines upon the mountains o f Samaria,\" that they \"FOUND\r\nGRACE in the wilderness; even Israel.\"--Jer.31. We are told that\r\nthe law was given by Moses, but that grace and truth came by\r\nJesus Christ, and since the Divine word which was sent to Jacob\r\nlighted upon Israel, even Ephraim, we know that the grace which\r\nthey received in their far away home was the Grace of the Gospel\r\nof the Son of God. The wilderness where these people received the\r\ngrace of God is that country whither they went when they were\r\ncast out of the land of their fathers, which at that time was\r\nunknown and uninhabited, hence a wilderness. The fact that this\r\npeople received the Gospel, while cast out and lost, is also a\r\nfulfillment of the prophecy by Jeremiah in which the Lord says\r\nthat he will send many fishers, Gospel fishers, and they shall\r\nfish them. This is also why we are told that \"Ephraim shall say,\r\nWhat have I to do any more with idols?\"\r\n     \"But,\" questions one, \"are there no Gentiles who have become\r\nChristians except these nations which are of the birthright\r\nkingdom of Israel?\" Our answer is, Yes; but each of these also,\r\nlike Ephraim and Manasseh, needed to be adopted. This is why we\r\nare told, \"As many of you as have been baptized into Christ have\r\nput on Christ. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed,\r\nand heirs according t0 THE PROMISE.\" This adoption is necessary\r\nin all cases where the persons are of non-Israelitish nations,\r\nfor the covenants, the promises, and the adoption are\r\nIsraelitish, and belong to none who are not of the seed of\r\nAbraham. Those who are thus adopted become flesh of his flesh and\r\nbone of his bone. It is for this reason that Jesus took on\r\nhimself the seed of Abraham, for it behooved him to be made like\r\nunto his brethren. This involves many questions which cannot be\r\ndiscussed here, but we take time to say that, in order to belong\r\nto the election of grace, the adopted son is BORN of the spirit,\r\nand the home-born must also be born of the spirit. It is the\r\nconquering, literal, fleshly Israel that is a type of the\r\nconquering, literal, spiritual Israel. It is the literal, fleshly\r\nadoption into national Israel, which is the earthly family of\r\nGod, that is a type of the literal spiritual adoption into the\r\nheavenly family of God, of whom Jesus Christ was the first-born\r\namong many brethren, both in the flesh and in the spirit, and who\r\nis also the first-born among many brethren in a two-fold sense,\r\nfor he was not only the first among those who are both sons of\r\nGod and sons of Abraham, but he was also the first out of the\r\nmany who shall yet be \"the children of the resurrection.\"\r\n     The fact that Joseph-Israel becomes Christianized while cast\r\nout of their land is the reason for the following: \"Loose thyself\r\nfrom the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. For thus\r\nsaith the Lord, Ye sold yourselves for naught, and ye shall be\r\nredeemed without money. For thus saith the Lord God, My people\r\nwent down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there, and then\r\nAssyrian oppressed them without cause.\" To be redeemed without\r\nmoney is certainly a new covenant truth, and one that is heralded\r\nfrom our pulpits every where. On Mt. Zion, inside the walls of\r\nJerusalem, the city of David, were the royal dwellings; hence,\r\nZion becomes one of the generic names for the seed of Abraham,\r\nIsaac, Jacob, Joseph or Judah. This captive daughter of Zion, who\r\nthe Lord declares shall be redeemed without money, went first to\r\nEgypt, and was also oppressed by the Assyrian. It was the\r\nBirthright people who were led captive into Assyria.\r\n     It is the barren woman, the desolate, the woman forsaken,\r\nthe one who knew the reproach o f widowhood, the wife o f youth,\r\nwho had been divorced, of whom the Lord declares, that she had\r\nmore children than when married, and to whom the Lord says:\r\n\"Enlarge the place of thy tent (dwelling) and let them stretch\r\nforth the curtains of thine habitations, spare not, lengthen thy\r\ncords, and strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on\r\nthe right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the\r\nGentiles.\" \"Imperialism\" again. But it is this same woman to whom\r\nthe Lord says, \"Thy maker is thine husband ... for a small moment\r\nhave I forsaken thee; ... In a little wrath I hid my face from\r\nthee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have\r\nmercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer ... In righteousness\r\nshalt thou be established; and great shall be the peace of thy\r\nchildren ... Whosoever shall gather against thee shall fall for\r\nthy sake ... No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper\r\n(be this weapon against either the election of grace or against\r\ntheir nation); and every tongue that shall rise against thee in\r\njudgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage (national and\r\nspiritual) of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness\r\nis o f me, saith the Lord.\"--Isa.54th chapter. \"For the\r\ntransgressions of MY PEOPLE was he (he is brought as a LAMB to\r\nthe slaughter) stricken.\"\r\n     Jesus said, concerning his Church, \"I will never leave thee\r\nnor forsake thee\"; and concerning this one-time cast-off and\r\nforsaken people, this promise is given \"Thou shalt no more be\r\ntermed forsaken.\" Why? Because \"the Redeemer shall come to Zion,\r\nand unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the\r\nLord. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord;\r\nMy spirit that is upon thee, and the words which I have put in\r\nthy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the\r\nmouth of thy seed, not out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith\r\nthe Lord, from henceforth and forever.\"--Isa.59:20-21.\r\n     The failure, hitherto, to identify the Gospel promise! as\r\nbelonging to that branch of the Abrahamic posterity which has the\r\naccompanying national characteristics, has been the cause of\r\nuntold confusion, untold harm, untold skepticism, as well as much\r\nloudly-told infidelity, both within the pale of Christian\r\ndenominations and out of them.\r\n     Tom Paine boldly asserted that he was led into infidelity\r\nbecause he saw that the Jewish people never had fulfilled and\r\nnever could fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament. In 1898\r\nB. Fay Mills, the one-time Spirit-filled evangelist, said, \"In\r\nthe fourth place, the prophecies of the Old Testament (to Israel)\r\nhave not been realized. Today,\" he says, \"the Bible is no more\r\ninspired than the Koran.\"\r\n     \"The Lord of Hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have\r\nthought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have proposed, so\r\nshall it stand.\"--Isa.14:24.\r\n     Prof. Rawlinson, in his \"Homiletics\" on the above text,\r\nsays: \"It is weakness on the part of man to need any confirmation\r\nof a promise which God makes. When He condescends to swear that\r\nhis promise shall hold good, it does not really add to the\r\ncertainty of the thing promised, since the certainty was absolute\r\nfrom the first. But man is so accustomed to mistrust his fellows\r\nthat he will even mistrust God, as though with him were\r\n'variableness or shadow of turning.'\" And yet this same Prof.\r\nRawlinson when writing of the ten-tribed Kingdom of Israel, says:\r\n\"They ceased to exist.\" It is painful to find men who will speak\r\nso highly of God at one time and so belittle him in regard to his\r\npromises to Israel. Well may the Lord say, \"Thus have they\r\ndespised my people, that they should be no more a nation before\r\nthem.\"\r\n\r\n     The Rev. Baring Gould tells us that \"God's first purpose has\r\nbeen partially frustrated. The church has taken Israel's place as\r\nthe body.\"\r\n     Dr. Ladd, in \"The Doctrine of Scripture,\" Vol. 1, page 442,\r\nsays: \"The Christian church has taken the place of the Jew to\r\nreceive in different form the substance of the salvation which\r\nthey expected for themselves. The Christian church is the true\r\nIsrael, the seed of Abraham, the inheritor and recipient of the\r\nMessianic prophecies.\"\r\n\r\n     Opinions, similar to these, are held generally throughout\r\nthe Christian church; while others hold that we are a sort of\r\nmodern Israel of whom the Bible is silent, and yet both schools\r\nappropriate to Christianity all the good things which are\r\npromised to the Lord's chosen people, and pile all the evil\r\nthings upon the Jews. As if the Lord were guilty of making\r\npromises to one people and fulfilling them to another.\r\n     To be in harmony with the facts, Dr. Ladd should have\r\ndefined the situation as follows: \"The Christian church is the\r\ntrue Israel of God which has received, in the same form and\r\nsubstance, that salvation which the Jews refused, for it is\r\ncomposed of men who are born of the spirit and who belong to the\r\nmaterial Israel, the seed of Abraham, the inheritors and\r\nrecipients of the Messianic prophecies, upon whom lighted the\r\nDivine word-he whom the Jews rejected.\"\r\n     In the chapter on the heraldry of Israel and the Saxons, we\r\nexplained that the Lion, the young Ox, and the Eagle were the\r\ncamp standards of Israel. But we gave no explanation concerning\r\n\"The Man,\" which was also one of these four camp standards. The\r\nreference to the man in Ezekiel 1:10 cites us to Numbers, 2:10,\r\nwhich reads: \"On the south side shall be the standard of the camp\r\nof Reuben.\" Concerning these symbols, Dr. Seiss says: \"Jewish\r\nwriters tell us that the standard of each tribe of Israel took\r\nthe color of the stone which represented it in the High Priest's\r\nbreastplate, and that there was wrought upon each a particular\r\nfigure-a lion for Judah, a young ox for Ephraim, a man for\r\nReuben, and an eagle for Dan. These were the representative\r\ntribes, and all the rest were marshaled under these four\r\nstandards (Num. ii); --Judah, on the east, with Issachar and\r\nZebulon; Reuben, on the south, with Simeon and Gad; Ephraim on\r\nthe west, with Manasseh and Benjamin; and Dan, on the north, with\r\nAsher and Naphtali. In the center of this quadrangular encampment\r\nwas the tabernacle of God, with four divisions of Levites forming\r\nan inner encampment around it. It was thus that Israel was\r\nmarched through the wilderness, under the four banners of the\r\nlion, the young ox, the man, and the flying eagle. These were\r\ntheir ensigns, their guards, their coverings, the symbols of\r\npower by which they were protected and guided. They were parts of\r\nthat divine and heavenly administration which led them forth from\r\nbondage, preserved them in the wilderness, and finally settled\r\nthem in the promised land.\"   \r\n     These facts were undoubtedly known to the compilers of our\r\nreference Bibles, hence the references from Ezekiel's vision to\r\nthe outward, material and earthly aspect of the people to whom\r\nEzekiel was sent, for he was sent to the ten-tribed kingdom, and\r\nremained among them seven days. (See former chapter.)\r\n\r\n     We know of no Old Testament Scriptures which will show why\r\nthe ensign of Reuben was a man except that the name Reuben means\r\n\"Behold a son,\" or \"See ye a son.\" Genesis 29:32 settles that\r\nforever. A son presupposes a man. The sons of Benjamin were the\r\nmen of Benjamin, as we have shown. Also, a son of Israel\r\nis a man of Israel. It is certainly fitting that the ensign of\r\nReuben should have been a man, for he was the firstborn of\r\nIsrael. An expression like this: \"Who raised up this righteous\r\nman from the east?\" as applied to the nation of Israel, may have\r\nhad some reference to the ensign of the man of Reuben. But, if\r\nthis be so, it would be next to an impossibility to trace it\r\npositively, for the word man is in such general use that, should\r\nwe undertake it, we should soon get lost in the mazes.\r\n     But we are sure of this one thing, namely: that the ensign\r\nof that first-born of Israel was a type of another first-born, of\r\nwhom the prophet declares, \"Unto US A SON is born, and my people\r\nIsrael, even Ephraim, shall know.\" Also, when this son of Abraham\r\nwas led out to be slain for the sins of that people, Pilate said:\r\n\"Behold the MAN.\"\r\n     Joseph inherited the first-born blessing which Reuben\r\nforfeited and the ensign of the cross in the hands of the people\r\nwho are the inheritors of the blessings of the Gospel of the\r\ngrace of the Son of God, declared, in the arbitrary language of\r\nsigns, \"Behold the man.\" Thus it seems that the \"Double Portion\"\r\nof Joseph was a type of his double blessing, i. e., the blessing\r\nof the Abrahamic Birthright and the Gospel of Grace, for they\r\ncertainly are the recipients of both.\r\n     \r\n     It is for this reason that the Lord says: \"They,\"\r\nJoseph-Israel, \"shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in\r\ntheir land they shall possess the Double (i. e., two portions in\r\nthe land): everlasting joy shall be unto them ... And their seed\r\nshall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the\r\npeople; all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are\r\nthe seed which the Lord hath blessed.\"--Isa.61:7-9.\r\n     This word double gives that whole prophecy in the context to\r\nJoseph. The next verse is as follows: \"I will greatly rejoice in\r\nthe Lord; my soul shall be joyful in my God for he hath clothed\r\nme with the garments o f salvation, he hath covered me with the\r\nrobe o f righteousness, and as a bridegroom decketh himself with\r\nornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.\"\r\n     Truly \"God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean\r\nheart.\" Among that people who received \"grace in the wilderness\"\r\nnone may have a clean heart except those who trust the blood of\r\natonement; i. e., the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who\r\ntaketh away the sin of the world.\r\n     Prior to the crucifixion of this man, this first-born Son of\r\nGod, Caiaphas, in the heat of discussion concerning the interests\r\nof their nation, said: \"Ye know nothing at all, nor consider that\r\nit is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people,\r\nand that the whole nation perish not. And thus spake he not o f\r\nhimself: but being high priest that year, he (unconsciously)\r\nprophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; and not for\r\nthat nation only, but that also he should gather together in one\r\nthe children o f God that were scattered abroad.\" \r\n     The children of God that were scattered abroad at that time\r\nwere the ten tribes of the Birthright kingdom of Israel, and we\r\nsay, without the possibility of being successfully contradicted,\r\nthat the restoration o f Israel is in the atonement, and that\r\nJesus not only died to fulfill Isa.53:8, but also that he might\r\nperform that good thing which he had promised unto the house of\r\nIsrael and to the house of Judah; i. e., the gathering, the\r\nreturn, the restoration of his chosen people, with all its\r\nglorious results.\r\n     This is why Paul said, \"And now I stand and am judged for\r\nthe hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: unto which\r\npromise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night,\r\nHOPE TO COME. For which hope's sake, King Agrippa, I am accused\r\nof the Jews.\" (Acts 26:6-7.) This is also why he says, \"Now we\r\nbeseech you, brethren, by the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ,\r\nand by our gathering together unto Him.\" It was because this\r\nrestoration is all through the words of Moses and the prophets,\r\nand because Jesus had died to accomplish it, that, after his\r\nresurrection, and just before his ascension, the last question\r\nwhich his apostles ask is, \"Lord, wilt thou at this time restore\r\nagain the kingdom to Israel?\" He did not tell them that there was\r\nto be no restoration. He simply told them that they were not to\r\nknow the times or seasons which the Father hath put in his own\r\npower. Later they understood that it was to come, with the second\r\ncoming of Christ, at which time he is to gather Israel, and reign\r\nover the house of Jacob forever.\r\n     Thus, on the day of Pentecost, when men out of every nation\r\nunder heaven were assembled together, Peter said: \"Men and\r\nbrethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David,\r\nthat he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us\r\nunto this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God\r\nhad sworn with an oath unto him that of the fruit of his loins,\r\naccording to the flesh, he would RAISE UP Christ. to sit on his\r\nthrone; he, seeing this before, spake of the resurrection o f\r\nChrist.\"  (Acts 2:29-31.)\r\n     According to this reasoning, David did not expect Christ to\r\nsit on his throne until after he shall have been raised from the\r\ndead, and we know that he is not on David's throne now. He is\r\nsitting at the right hand of God on his throne, for \"Him hath God\r\nexalted with his right hand to be a Prince (a Prince is a coming\r\nking) and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and\r\nforgiveness of sins.\" (Acts 5:30) Hence, Peter, after telling the\r\nJews that this Prince whom they had killed, was both Lord and\r\nChrist, very kindly says, \"And now, brethren, I wot that through\r\nignorance ye did it (God help Christians of today to be thus, or\r\neven more charitable), as did also your rulers. But those things,\r\nwhich God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets,\r\nthat Christ should SUFFER, he hath so fulfilled.\" Thus we see,\r\nthat the apostles only claimed, for others of them were with\r\nPeter, that those things which were written concerning the\r\nsufferings of Christ were fulfilled. So, Peter continues his\r\ndiscourse, saying, \"And he (God) shall send Jesus Christ, which\r\nbefore was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must retain until\r\nthe times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by\r\nthe mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.\" (Acts\r\n3:17-2I.)\r\n\r\n     Mark that, please! \"All things which God hath spoken by the\r\nmouth of  all his holy prophets,\" and nothing else, but surely\r\nall that which God hath spoken. Just that, nothing more, nothing\r\nless, can vindicate. Nothing more is necessary, but it is\r\nabsolutely essential for the complete vindication of God and his\r\nChrist that all which God hath spoken be so fulfilled.\r\n     All the suffering phases concerning this rejected one, as\r\nrecorded by all the prophets, have in like manner been fulfilled.\r\nThe despised and rejected Man of Sorrows came. The oppressed,\r\nafflicted and grief-stricken man with the marred visage has been\r\nsmitten. The stripe-beaten back has been bared and has borne its\r\nheavy load. The prison, the judgment hall, the trial, the\r\nmocking, jeering, insulting, spitting, raging mob are come and\r\ngone. The dumb Lamb, whose heart broke and melted like wax within\r\nhim, has been led to the slaughter. In company with criminals, he\r\nhas poured out his soul unto death, and the mutilated body has\r\nbeen laid away in its foretold rich man's grave. But that grave\r\ncould not hold its holy treasure, for his prophet Father had\r\nsaid, \"Neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see\r\ncorruption.\"\r\n\r\n     These and many other things which were foretold by the\r\nprophets he hath so fulfilled; but Jesus, himself, said: \"Think\r\nnot that I am come to destroy the law (word), or the prophets: I\r\nam not come to destroy, but to fulfill (these). For verily I say\r\nunto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall\r\nin no wise pass from the law (\"to the law and to the testimony,\r\nif they speak not according to thy word, it is because there is\r\nno light in them\"), till all be fulfilled.\"\r\n\r\n     The heaven and the earth are still held in their places, all\r\nthat is written in the prophets has not yet been fulfilled, but\r\nIT SHALL BE. For Gabriel said to Mary, \"Thou shalt conceive in\r\nthy womb (she did), and bring forth A SoN (she did), and shalt\r\ncall his name JESUS (that was his name). He shall be great\r\n(Prophet, High Priest, Prince, and Saviour), and shall be called\r\nthe Son of the Highest (God, himself, opened heaven, and said,\r\n\"This is my beloved Son\"); and the Lord God shall give unto him\r\nthe throne of his father David [that throne has not yet been\r\ngiven to him], and he shall reign [\"Upon the throne of David, and\r\nupon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment\r\nand justice (elements which it now lacks) from henceforth even\r\nforever (the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this) over\r\nthe house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no\r\nend.\" Thus we see that these promises concerning David's greater\r\nSon were fulfilled only in part at his first coming. When Jesus\r\ncomes the second time, he will come as SHILOH. Unto him shall the\r\npeople gather, and he will then sit on the throne of his father\r\nDavid, and reign over the house of Jacob forever. For it is\r\nwritten: \"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will\r\nraise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and\r\nprosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in THE EARTH.\"\r\n     It is of the fact of this coming King for the kingdom of\r\nDavid that, when the apostles and elders of the newly founded\r\nchurch were in counsel, James spoke \"Men and brethren, hearken\r\nunto me: Simeon hath declared how God at first did visit the\r\nGentiles, to take out of them a people (the remnant of grace) for\r\nhis name (i. e., that they might become his bride). And to this\r\nagree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I\r\nwill return, and will build again the tabernacle (royal\r\ndwellings, and palaces) of David, which are fallen down (those on\r\nMt. Zion); and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will\r\nset it up.\" (Acts 15:13-16.)\r\n\r\n     Jesus died to confirm the promises made to the fathers, not\r\nto transfer them. \"He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
