JUDAH'S SCEPTRE AND JOSEPH'S BIRTHRIGHT #17\r\n\r\nby J.H. Allen (1917)\r\n\r\n(A classic True Israel (British Israelism) book on the Celto-Saxon people's of God. \r\ndownload the full version of Judah's Sceptre and Joseph's Birthright - for free<\/a>)\r\n\r\n\r\nTHE PRINCE OF THE SCARLET THREAD\r\n\r\n\r\n     While we leave our little royal \"remnant\" to make their\r\nescape, let us look about and out into the fields of revelation\r\nand history, to see if we can find some royal prince to whom\r\nshall be wedded one of these princesses who are fleeing into that\r\n\"unknown land,\" where the Lord has promised that those who\r\ncompose this remnant shall again take root and grow.\r\n     While we are making this search it will be well to remember\r\nthat \"God gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever,\" and\r\nthat \"Israel\" is not the name of the Jewish nation, but that it\r\nis the name of the ten-tribed kingdom, which had been driven into\r\n\"an unknown land\" about one hundred and thirty-nine years prior\r\nto the flight of this remnant.\r\n     Let us also remember that the Sceptre, with all that belongs\r\nto it, was promised distinctively to the Judo-Davidic family, and\r\nnot to the kingdom which bore the name of Judah, a name which,\r\ntogether with its corrupted form, Jews, is the Biblical historic\r\nname of the Jewish nation.\r\n     Judah, as we will remember, was the representative name of\r\nthat nation which was composed of the smaller portion of Israel's\r\nseed, because it was to Judah's blessing and standard that the\r\npeople gathered who afterward became separated from the rest of\r\nIsrael, and were known as the Jews. They are the descendants of\r\nthese people who are still known as Jews.\r\n     On the other hand, according to a prophecy which shall be\r\ncited in due time, the descendants of the ten-tribed kingdom,\r\nwhich had been cast out into an unknown land, were to be called\r\nby another name.\r\n     The fact that they were not to be known by the name of\r\nIsrael cannot annul the prophecy which was uttered by Abijah, as\r\nhe stood upon a certain mount in Ephraim and said: \"Hear me, thou\r\nJeroboam, and all Israel; ought ye not to know that the Lord God\r\nof Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to\r\nhim and to his sons, by a covenant of salt?\"\r\n     Do you ask, \"Is it possible that this little royal remnant\r\nshall have gone to that same unknown land to which they of the\r\nten tribes had previously gone? Was it among that people that\r\nthis remnant was planted, and over whom the preserved sceptre\r\nheld its sway?\" Let us examine the Scriptural evidence.\r\n\r\n     Ezekiel is believed to have lived contemporaneously with\r\nJeremiah. By taking the testimony of chronology, together with\r\nthe concurrence of many historic events, all may know that this\r\nis true.\r\n\r\n     Jeremiah states historic events and utters prophecies which\r\nrelate chiefly to Judah, but gives only a little of that which\r\npertains to Israel; while Ezekiel does the reverse of this,\r\nsaying much that concerns Israel and but little that pertains to\r\nJudah.\r\n     Still, what he does say concerning the destroyed\r\ncommonwealth of Judah, the plucked-up Sceptre and the overturned\r\nthrone of that royal family whose history we are studying, does\r\nmost undoubtedly furnish evidence which connects the remnant seed\r\nand their monarchical belongings with the exiled house of Israel,\r\nwhich has taken root, and whose people are gathering strength in\r\na country the location and geographical character of which are\r\ndescribed by the prophets, and which, at a time prior to the\r\nprophecies, was an unknown and an uninhabited wilderness.\r\nJeremiah tells us that \"Zedekiah was one and twenty years old\r\nwhen he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in\r\nJerusalem.\"\r\n     At a period which synchronizes with the time when Zedekiah\r\nhad reigned for six years, Ezekiel declares that the word of the\r\nLord came to him saying that he should prophesy against Judah and\r\nJerusalem, concerning the King of Babylon, who would come up\r\nagainst them with the sword, and that at that time he should set\r\nbattering rams against the gates of the city, cast up a mount and\r\nbuild a fort. The result of this would be that the city would be\r\ntaken.\r\n     At the same time the message from the Lord, which was\r\ndelivered by the prophet Ezekiel to Zedekiah, was \"And thou,\r\nprofane, wicked Prince of Israel, whose day is come, when (your)\r\niniquity shall have an end, thus saith the Lord God: Remove the\r\ndiadem, and take off the crown; this shall not be (upon) the\r\nsame; exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I will\r\noverturn, overturn, overturn it; and it shall be no more\r\n(overturned) until he come whose right it is; and I will give it\r\nto him.\" - Ezek.21:22-27.\r\n     We have no disposition to make an attempt to give words a\r\nmeaning which they will not bear, nor to attach any signification\r\nto them which the context does not clearly indicate; but these\r\nwords do most certainly give us to understand that there is a\r\nperson, a male heir of the royal line, who is to be the immediate\r\nsuccessor of Zedekiah to the Davidic throne. Also, these words\r\nteach that the crown is to be taken from off the head of\r\nZedekiah, upon whom it rested at the time when this prophecy was\r\ngiven, and placed upon the head of this person whom the\r\nScriptures designate as \"him that is low.\"\r\n     These words further teach that when the royal diadem, the\r\nemblem of kingly power and exaltation, is taken from the one and\r\nplaced upon the head of that other person, that then the one who\r\nwas previously high is abased and brought low, but that the one\r\nwho hitherto was low is then exalted and made high. This is\r\nessentially so, because the two men shall have then exchanged\r\nplaces.\r\n     Furthermore, the expression, \"This shall not be the same,\"\r\ntaken together with the prophecy concerning the overturns, leads\r\nus to expect a change of dynasty, at least on the side of the\r\nmale line, and also a change in the territorial or geographical\r\nsituation. This is still more apparent when we note that there\r\nare to be three overturns, and that after the third overturn\r\nshall have been accomplished, there are to be no more until\r\nanother certain person comes. Also, after the diadem has been\r\nremoved from the head of the prince who wore it at the time of\r\nthe first overturn and placed upon the head of \"him that is low,\"\r\nit is to be noted that then either this man, who is the person\r\nunderstood as the antecedent of the personal pronoun, \"Him,\" or\r\nhis lineage, is to be dethroned by the Lord in favor of that\r\nother person, who is designated as \"he whose right it is,\" to\r\nwhom it shall then be given.\r\n\r\n     The next question for us to settle is, Who is this legally\r\npossible person, that is to be the successor of Zedekiah, who is\r\nspoken of as \"him that is low\"? for he is spoken of as \"low\" only\r\nin the sense of nonruling.\r\n\r\n     By consulting the thirty-eighth chapter of Genesis we will\r\nfind a record of the conception and birth of twin boys, whose\r\nconception and birth were both accompanied by such extraordinary\r\ncircumstances that the question of their parentage is forever\r\nsettled; for Tamar, the mother, did willingly stoop in order that\r\nshe might conquer Judah, the father, and compel him to do justice\r\nby her.\r\n     The never-to-be-forgotten manner in which Judah was forced\r\nto acknowledge that those children were his offspring and that\r\ntheir mother was more righteous than he, does most certainly\r\nplace the fact of their royal lineage beyond the possibility of\r\ncavil.\r\n     When the mother was in travail and after the midwife had\r\nbeen summoned, there was the presentation of a hand. Then, for\r\nsome reason either human or Divine, the midwife knew that twins\r\nwere in the womb. So, in order that she might know and be able to\r\ntestify which was born first, she fastened a scarlet thread on\r\nthe outstretched hand. Since Judah's was the royal family in\r\nIsrael, and the law of primogeniture prevailed among them, it was\r\nessential that this distinction should be made so that at the\r\nproper time the first born or eldest son might ascend the throne.\r\n\r\n     After the scarlet thread had been made secure on the little\r\nhand it was drawn back and the brother was born first. Upon\r\nseeing this the midwife exclaimed: \"How hast thou broken forth?\"\r\nThen, seemingly, she was filled with the spirit of prophecy and\r\nsaid: \"This breach be upon thee,\" and because of this prophetic\r\nutterance he was given the name of Pharez, i. e., \"A Breach.\"\r\nAfterward his brother, who had the scarlet thread upon his hand,\r\nwas born, and his name was called Zarah, i. e., \"The seed.\"\r\nThe very fact that Pharez was really born first would exalt him,\r\nand it eventually did exalt his heirs, to the throne of Israel,\r\nfor King David was a son of Judah through the line of Pharez. But\r\njust so surely as this son of Judah and father of David, who was\r\nthe first one of the line to sit upon that throne, was given the\r\nname of Pharez, just so surely must we expect - with that little\r\nhand of the scarlet thread waving prophetically before them -\r\nthat a breach should occur somewhere along that family line.\r\n     That breach did occur. We are now considering its history\r\nand are well into its transition period, which began when the\r\nLord God sanctified Jeremiah, sent him into the world, and gave\r\nhim his commission to pull down and pluck up the exalted Pharez\r\nline, and afterward to build and plant anew the sceptre, throne\r\nand kingdom; while at about the same time the word of the Lord\r\ncame to Ezekiel and moved him to predict the removal of the crown\r\nfrom the head of the one who is high, a proceeding which not only\r\ninvolves the transfer of the royal diadem to another head, but\r\nalso an overturning; and when both the transfer and the\r\noverturning shall have been accomplished, then the one who was\r\nlow will have been exalted and the exalted one will have been\r\nbrought low.\r\n\r\n     The immediate posterity of this \"Prince of the Scarlet\r\nThread\" is given as follows: \"And the sons of Zarah; Zimri and\r\nEthan and Heman and Calcol and Dara, five of them in all.\" (1\r\nChron.2:6.) Thus the direct posterity of Zarah was five, while\r\nthat of Pharez was only two.\r\n     For the reason that our Lord sprang out of Judah, through\r\nthe line of Pharez, the unbroken genealogy of that family is\r\ngiven in the sacred records; but the genealogy of the Zarah\r\nfamily is given only intermittently. One thing is made quite\r\nclear in the Bible concerning the sons of Zarah, and that is,\r\nthat they were famous for their intelligence and wisdom, for it\r\nwas only the great God-given wisdom of Solomon which is declared\r\nto have risen above theirs, as is seen by the following: And God\r\ngave Solomon wisdom and understanding * * * and Solomon's wisdom\r\nexcelled the wisdom of all the children of the East, for he was\r\nwiser than all men - than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and\r\nCalcol, and Dara. (1 Kings 4:29,3I.)\r\n     Furthermore, we find that two of them, Ethan and Heman, were\r\nalso noted singers, as we find by consulting the fifteenth\r\nchapter of First Kings and the nineteenth verse. By noting the\r\ntitles of the eighty-eighth and eighty-ninth Psalms we also see\r\nthat one of them was composed by \"Heman the Ezrahite,\" and that\r\nthe other was the song of \"Ethan the Ezrahite.\"\r\n     It is not at all unlikely and would be but natural that\r\nthe Zimri who overthrew Baasha, the third King of Israel (not\r\nJudah), belonged to the posterity of Zimri, the first-born son of\r\nZarah, son of Judah and twin brother of Pharez. For, as we have\r\nshown, the seed of Jacob were at that time divided into two\r\nkingdoms, with the posterity of Pharez on the throne ruling over\r\nthe kingdom of Judah. How natural it would be for the then living\r\nmembers of that family to think, and to say: \"This is the long\r\nforetold breach for which we have been taught to look. This is\r\nthe time to assert our royal prerogatives, take the throne, and\r\nrule over this the house of Israel.\"\r\n     It would be but natural for another reason, namely, there\r\nhas always been an attempt to fulfill, in the natural, every\r\npromise that the Lord God has made to his chosen people. He\r\npromised Abraham and Sarah that they should have a son. In order\r\nthat they might accomplish this end Sarah gave and Abraham took,\r\nHagar her handmaid, and the result was Ishmael.\r\n     Before Jacob and Esau were born the Birthright was promised\r\nto the younger. Jacob, the younger, undertook to accomplish this\r\nin the natural by taking unjust advantage of his brother and\r\ndeceiving his father.\r\n     So with Joseph: after God had promised the Birthright to him\r\nhe undertook in the natural to take advantage of the blindness of\r\nJacob.\r\n     Nevertheless, God in his own good time gave Sarah strength\r\nto conceive; settled with repentant, wrestling Jacob, and\r\noutwitted manceuvering Joseph.\r\n     So now, in his own good time, he has also made the predicted\r\nbreach, which shall result in the bringing down of the line of\r\nPharez, \"the high,\" and which shall exalt the prosperity of\r\nZarah, \"the low.\"\r\n....................\r\n\r\nTo be continued\r\n(download the full version of \"Judah's Sceptre and Joseph's Birthright\" - for free<\/a>)<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
