Is Trump’s Russia-Ukraine Peace Deal really as bad as CNN and others are saying it is?A lot of people are reacting based on headlines, not details. There may actually be elements worth discussing seriously, instead of screaming “appeasement” without context.For example — one proposal reportedly includes Ukraine remaining outside NATO, which in reality might be the single most critical element to stop the endless cycle of escalation between nuclear superpowers. There are already discussions in Eastern Europe about a more peaceful regional alternative such as the Three Seas Initiative or Intermarium, allowing countries in the region to cooperate economically and defensively without dragging the world into a direct NATO vs. Russia collision.That is not surrender — it’s strategy.Another point critics attack is the idea of limiting Ukraine to a peacetime army of 800,000. But realistically, that is extremely large. For comparison, after World War I, Germany was restricted under the Treaty of Versailles to only 100,000 troops — and still rebuilt industrial and military strength.Before the Russia–Ukraine war, Ukraine’s active military was around 200–250k. So 800,000 soldiers is nearly four times that size — stronger than most armies in Europe today. Calling that “weakness” ignores basic military reality.So before we reject any peace framework entirely, maybe we examine the facts without emotion.What Members of Congress Are Saying🗣 Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA)Called the leaked plan “Russian-drafted propaganda” and “unserious nonsense,” saying the U.S. needs “peace through strength, not appeasement.”🗣 Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC)Warned that giving up territory would be a “reward for aggression” and compared it to September 1939, when concessions were supposed to stop conflict — and instead World War II began.🗣 Rep.
