A reminder as we enter the holy season of preparation and expectation<\/em><\/h3>\n

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,<\/p>\n

As we enter into the sacred season of Advent, the Church calls us to watchfulness, repentance, fasting, and joyful expectation<\/strong>. Advent is not merely a countdown to December celebrations \u2014 it is a spiritual preparation for the coming of the King<\/strong>, both in His Incarnation and in His return in glory.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcdc A Joyful Note About This Season<\/strong>
In our Celtic tradition we rejoice in this blessed season as the celebration of the Incarnation<\/strong> \u2014 the moment when Christ first entered the world through the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary. We mark this mystery in late December, nine months before His Nativity at the Feast of Tabernacles<\/strong>, giving thanks that \u201cby Him all things consist.\u201d<\/strong> \u2014 Colossians 1:17<\/a> (KJV)<\/em><\/p>\n

In the ancient Celtic, Gallican, Mozarabic, and Eastern Christian traditions, Advent has always been centered on something deeper than outward festivity:<\/p>\n

Advent is the Feast of the Incarnation \u2014 the moment the eternal Son of God took flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBehold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to Thy word.\u201d<\/em> (Luke 1:38<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This miracle is commemorated in our Celtic tradition on December 18<\/strong>, the Feast of the Annunciation<\/strong>, marking the moment when God entered the world invisibly<\/strong>, nine months before His visible birth at the Feast of Tabernacles.<\/p>\n

Advent invites us to imitate Mary \u2014 quietness, humility, obedience, and readiness<\/strong> for the Word to dwell richly in us.<\/p>\n

What Advent Calls Us to Practice<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1. A Season of Watchful Prayer<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Christ Himself commanded:<\/p>\n

\u201cWatch therefore, for you know not the hour.\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 24:42<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Let us set aside time daily for prayer, Scripture, and reflection.<\/p>\n

2. A Season of Fasting and Discipline<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our Lord taught: \u201cThen shall they fast.\u201d<\/strong> (Matt. 9:15)
\nWhile the world indulges before the feast, the Church keeps a fast of preparation<\/strong>, historically similar to a \u201cwinter Lent.\u201d<\/p>\n
