Being Saved #2

Some like to "proof text" - how's this?

WILL YOU HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
Compiled by Keith Hunt
THOUGH I be sent to you to show you the way of light and truth and
salvation, I know most are as Isaiah has written, "This people draw
nigh unto me with their lips but their heart is far from me."
God will speak to you in this study; you will hear HIS words to
you; you will hear the words of the way to salvation. The question
is will you listen and more importantly will you ACT?
Some like to "proof text" - like Eph.2:8-10 "For by grace are you
saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
not of works lest any man boast..."
Weeeellll .... how's this for proof texting?
Continuing in Luke and John
"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and as his CUSTOM
was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day" (Luke 4:16).
"And why call me, Lord, Lord, and DO NOT the things which I say? Whosoever
comes to me, and hears my saying and DOES them, I will tell you to whom he
is like. He is like a man which built a house and digged deep, and laid
the foundation on a rock.....But he that hears and does NOT, is like a
man that without foundation built a house upon the earth, against which the
stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house
was great" (Luke 6:46-49).
And we shall yet come to James where he wrote "faith without works is dead" -
James chapter 2, if you'd like to read the context.
"And iot came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman of the
company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is he womb that bare
you, and the paps which you did suck. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are
they that hear the WORD of God, and KEEP it" (Luke 11:27-28).
"And that servant which KNEW his lord's will, and prepared not himself,
neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes"
(Luke 12:47).
"I tell you, Nay, but except you REPENT, you shall all likewise perish"
(Luke 13:3,5).
"And whosoever does not bear his cross and come to me, cannot be my
disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first,
and counts the cost, to see if he has enough money to finish it? Lest
un-happy, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it,
all that see it begin to mock him, saying, This amn began to build, but
was not able to finish.....So likewise, whosoever he be of you that for-
sakes not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple ... he that has ears to
hear withm let him hear" (Luke 14:27-35).
"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and
love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
You cannot serve God, and the ways of the world. And the Pharisees, also,
who were covetous, heard all these things and derided him. And he said
unto them: You are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knows
your heart: for that which is highly esteemed among men is an ABOMINATION
in the sight of God......And he said unto them, If they hear not Moses
and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from
the dead" (Luke 16:13-15,31).
"Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such
is the Kingdom of God. Truly I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the
Kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.....And a
certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to INHERIT
eternal life? And Jesus said unto him: Why do you call me good? None is
good, save one, that is God. You know the commandments, Do not commit
adultery, Do not kill, do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your
father and your mother.....For it is easier for a camel to go through a
needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God"
(Luke 18:16-20,25).
"But those mine enemies which would not that I should reign over them,
bring them here and slay them before me" (Luke 19:27).
"And he said unto them, Thus it is written .... And that REPENTANCE and
remission of sins should be preached in his name, among all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:46-47).
..........
"For everyonbe that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does TRUTH (see John 17:17)
comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are
wrought in God" (John 3:20,21).
"But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship
the Father in spirit and in TRUTH: for the Father seeks such to worship
him" (John 4:23).
"Truly, truly, I say unto you, He that HEARS MY WORD, and beleives on him
that sent mr, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation,
but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).
"Truly, truly, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the
dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that HEAR shall
live.....And shall come forth; they that have DONE GOOD unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have DONE EVIL, unto the resurrection of judgment"
(John 5:25,29).
"Work not for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to
eternal life..." (John 6:27).
"It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be TAUGHT of God.
Every man that has HEARD, and has LEARNED of the Father comes unto me."
[Mat.4:4] (John 6:45).
"....the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are
life" (John 6:63).
"Jesus answered them, and said, My DOCTRINE is not mine, but his that
sent me. If any man will DO his WILL, he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God or whether I speak from my own mind" (John 7:16,17).
"....he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things
which I have heard of him.....and I do nothing of myself; but as the
Father has TAUGHT me, I speak these things" (John 8:26,28).
"If you CONTINUE in my WORD, then are you my disciples indeed. And
you shall know the TRUTH and the truth shall make you free.....Truly
I say unto you: Whosoever PRACTICES sin is the servant of sin."
[1 John 3:4] (John 8:31,34).
"Why do you NOT understand my speech? Even because you CANNOT HEAR
my WORD" (John 8:43).
"He that is of God HEARS God's WORDS; you therefore hear them NOT
because you are NOT of God" (John 8:47).
"Truly, truly, I say unto you; If a man KEEP my saying, he shall
never see death" [the second death] (John 8:51).
"....but if any man be a worshipper of God, and PRACTICES his will,
him he hears" (John 9:31).
"Truly, truly, I say unto you: He that enters NOT by the door into
the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief
and a robber....I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall
be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture....I am the
good shepherd, and know my sheep, and they know me" (John 10:1,9,14).
"But you BELIEVE NOT, because you are NOT of my sheep, as I said
unto you. My sheep HEAR my voice, and I know them, and they follow
me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:26-28).
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that
BELIEVES in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever
LIVES and BELIVES in me shall in no wise shall die forever (Greek)
....." (John 11:25,26).
"If any man serve me, let him FOLLOW me....." (John 12:26).
"And if any man HEAR my word, and BELIEVES NOT ... He that REJECTS
me, and receives NOT my WORDS, has one that judes him: the WORD
that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For
I have not spoken out of my own mind, but the Father which sent me,
he gave a commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I known that his COMMANDMENT is life everlasting; whatever I
say is therefore even as the Father gave me, so I speak" (John
12:47-50).
"I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man comes unto the
Father but by me.....the words that I speak unto you, I speak
not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the
works.....if you love me KEEP my COMMANDMENTS.....He that has
my COMMANDMENTS and KEEPS them, he it is that loves me.....
If a man love me, he will KEEP my words: and my Father will
love him, and WE will come into him, and make OUR abode with
him. He that loves me NOT keeps NOT my SAYINGS; and the WORD
which you hear is NOT mine, but the Father's which sent me"
(John 14:6-24).
"I am the true vine, and the Father is the husbandman. Every
branch that bears NOT fruit he takes away.....I am the vine,
you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him,
the same brings forth MUCH FRUIT.....If a man abide NOT in
me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men
gather them, and they are cast into the fire, and are
burned up.....If you KEEP my COMMANDMENTS, you shall abide
in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments,
and abide in his love" (John 1-10).
"Greater love has no man that this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends. You are my friends, if you DO whatsoever
I COMMAND you" (John 15:13-14).
"These things I have spoken unto you, that you should not
be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogue (churches)
yes the time comes, that whoever kills you will think they
have done God a service. And these things they will do unto
you because they have NOT KNOWN the Father, nor me" (John 16:
1-3).
"I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them,
because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the
world.....Sanctify them through thy TRUTH: thy WORD is TRUTH"
(John 17:14,17).
"...Everyone that is of the TRUTH hears my voice"
(John 18:37).
