WILL YOU HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
Compiled by Keith Hunt
THOUGH I be sent to you to show you the way of light and truth and
salvation, I know most are as Isaiah has written, "This people draw
nigh unto me with their lips but their heart is far from me."
God will speak to you in this study; you will hear HIS words to
you; you will hear the words of the way to salvation. The question
is will you listen and more importantly will you ACT?
Some like to "proof text" - like Eph.2:8-10 "For by grace are you
saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
not of works lest any man boast..."
Weeeellll .... how's this for proof texting?
Continuing in Acts and Romans and Corinthians
"REPENT and be BAPTIZED every one in the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit" (Acts 2:38).
"And we are His witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy
Spirit, whom God has given to them that OBEY Him" (Acts 4:32).
"...I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own
heart, which shall fulfil ALL MY WILL" (Acts 13:22).
"Who will render to every man according to his deeds. To them
who by patient continuance in WELL DOING seek for glory and
honor and immortality - eternal life. But unto them that are
contentious, and DO NOT OBEY the TRUTH, but obey UNrighteousness,
indignation and wrath" (Romans 2:6-8).
"For the hearers of the law are not just before God, but the
DOERS of the LAW shall be JUSTIFIED" (Romans 2:13).
"Do we then make VOID the LAW through faith? GOD FORBID: yes,
we ESTABLISH the LAW" (Romans 3:31).
"....because the LOVE of God is shed abroad in our hearts by
the Holy Spirit which is given unto us" (Romans 5:5).
The letters of John let us what is the LOVE of God.
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace
may abound? GOD FORBID! How shall we, that are dead to sin,
live any longer in therein" (Romans 6:1-2).
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that
the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should
not serve sin" (Romans 6:6).
"...for where no law is, ther is no trangression.....but sin
is not imputed when there is no law" (Romans 4:15; 5:13).
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you
should obey it in the lust thereof" (Romans 6:12).
"What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law,
but under grace? GOD FORBID!" (Romans 6:15).
"Being made free from sin, you become the servants of
righteousness.....even so now yield your members servants
of righteousness (see Ps.119:172) unto holiness.....
For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ" (Romans 18-23).
"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? GOD FORBID! No, I
had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust,
except the law had said, You shall not covet.....Wherefore
the law is HOLY, and the commandment HOLY, and JUST, and
GOOD" (Romans 7:7-12).
"For I DELIGHT in the LAW of God, after the inward man"
(Romans 7:22).
"For to be CARNALLY minded is death....Because the carnal
mind is enmity against God: for it is not SUBJECT to the
LAW of God, neither indeed can be" (Romans 8:6,7).
"So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of
God" (see Mat.4:4)" (Romans 10:17).
"Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore LOVE is the
fulfilling of the LAW" (see what love is in the letters
of John) (Romans 13:10).
"Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing,
BUT the KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS of God" (1 Cor.7:19).
"I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I,
not as one that neats the air: But I keep under my body,
and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means,
when I have preached to others, I myself should be a
castaway" (1 Cor.9:26,27).
"Wherefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest
he fall" (1 Cor.10:12).
"Awake to RIGHTEOUSNESS (see Ps 119:172) and sin NOT
(see 1 John 3:4); for some have NOT the KNOWLEDGE of God:
I speak this to your shame" (1 Cor.15:34).
"For we are not as MANY, which CORRUPT the WORD of God..."
(2 Cor.2:17).
"For such are FALSE apostles, DECEITFUL workers, transforming
themsleves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore
it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed
into the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be
according to their works" (2 Cor.11:13-15).
"Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove
your own selves. Know you not your own selves, how that Jesus
Christ is in you, except you be reprobates" (2 Cor.13:5).
