THE BRAIN RACE
by Pastor Bob Hallstrom

Today I want to talk about education in America, in a message I am calling "The Brain Race." I say "Brain Race" because our country is literally in a race with the other nations of the world, and that race is a brain, or an education race. And the winner of the brain race will be the winner of the technology race. You see, education, or knowledge, is a nation's defense against destruction, and God tells us so in the Book of Hosea, at chapter 4, verse 6, where He says: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." Of course all knowledge, as the Word of God says here, must be based on the law of God. Now many doctors of physics know this fact, just as Sir Isaac Newton did when he discovered and explained how gravity works. And so natural law is an outcome, and the result of the law of God operating in nature. And the laws of physics, the laws of genetics, and the laws of biology -- all agree with the higher law of God. Now, in past broadcasts I have told you many times that American education -- or perhaps I should say the government's system of public education -- is bankrupt, that is, it is brain dead. And according to an expert on the subject, a Dr. John Rosemond, he says: "Since 1965, per-capita expenditures by public schools have risen more than 200 percent (in 1996 dollars) while student achievement has declined. "Public schools don't need more money, they need to find direction and become more efficient."(1) Well I certainly cannot disagree with that, but Dr. Rosemond is not finished with his condemnation of government schools. He goes on to say: "American public school students score well behind those from other industrialized countries in science and math, yet think their knowledge in those areas is more than adequate. "Public schools seem to be doing a better job of making children 'feel good about themselves' than of imparting real, marketable skills."(1) Now, we are getting to the core of the problem! And I want you to think, think hard about what the good doctor said there. You see, our children score behind other nations, yet these students and their teachers think that is okay. And to make everyone think this sorry state of affairs is okay, government schools brainwash the kids into a false sense of happiness by making them "feel good about themselves." Day dough know no weeding, no whiting, and no whifmatic, but by giminee, day duz feel gooood." Brethren, I will tell you something, this is not education, this is not even mis-education. This is UN-education and the result is that knowledge is being taken away -- or stolen -- for the sake of making everyone equal; actually for the sake of making robots and slaves of the entire populace. The best alternative to public schools is Christian education. And make no mistake, public schools are pagan schools and they should not be used by Christians. And No, by Christian education I do not mean we should attempt to "christianize" the government schools. One might as well try to "christianize" a fence post -- it simply cannot be done, and it was never meant to be done. By Christian education I am talking about private schools, I am talking about church schools, and best of all "home schools." These are three very important alternatives to government education, and the sooner we use them, the better. Because the quicker our Israelite kinsmen so educate our children, the sooner we will win the brain race against the anti-Christian nations of the world. But as you might imagine, there are those who have other ideas, and three of these men are David Kearns, Dennis Doyle, and Lamar Alexander. Lamar Alexander is the former governor of Tennessee and was a Republican candidate for President. David Kearns is chairman and CEO of Xerox, and Denis Doyle is a research fellow at the Hudson Institute. These men call themselves "conservatives" and say they want to generate a "conservative revolution" in public education. Now, where, Oh where, have we heard that expression before? Ah yes, a "conservative revolution" -- that is what that Rockefeller Republican and advocate of Jewish-New Age ideology, Newt Gingrich, promised back in November 1994. But anyhow, Kearns and Doyle wrote a book incorporating many of the ideas of Lamar Alexander called "Winning the Brain Race: A Bold Plan to Make Our Schools Competitive." And many conservatives have quoted from this book to promote Alexander's ideas, and thus his candidacy for the Republican nomination. Others quote from the book to show how "corporate America" wants to improve the government's schools. I must tell you that on the surface, these quotes seem to support Christian, common-sense ideas for reforming public education. For example, Kearns, Doyle and Alexander all say that public education must do a better job educating students in science and math. Well said, and so it should be. But later on they say that all students should be taught Martin Luther King's "Letter From Birmingham Jail."(2) Now, that I don't understand, and I guess, what these men fail to understand is that government schools are rotten precisely because they have taught such obscure, Marxist ramblings. In the same vein, these so-called "conservatives" say that government schools should indoctrinate students in "pluralistic democracy" and in "the moral history of the civil rights movement." Not only that, they say that the federal government has always had a primary role in education, since the time of the Founding Fathers.(3) Brethren, these ideas are revolutionary, all right, as in a socialist revolution. But let's dispose of these, one issue at a time. First, Martin Luther King, Jr. was not even the man's name. His real name was Michael King, Jr., and he was named after his father, Michael King, Sr. And King, Jr. was a socialist, a plagiarist, an adulterer, and a negro revolutionary. And much of the modern racial ill-will we endure today can be placed squarely on this man's shoulders. You see, he demanded that minorities be accredited equality as a matter of political decree and not by earning it, and ever since, that decree has been enforced by government soldiers, or by rioting, burning and looting. Secondly, a "pluralistic democracy" is an impossible pipe- dream. Beside that, it violates God's law that His people remain separate from other peoples. It also violates natural law by ignoring the obvious differences people have in their respective race, culture, intelligence, and history. We can quickly see how impossible this is by just trying to answer one question, and that question is: How can people come to any agreement on anything, if they disagree on what truth is? On what or who God is? And so "pluralistic democracy" is an oxymoron. It is like claming to be a virgin-whore. In other words, these terms are mutually exclusive. You see, "pluralism" means a wide variety of differences. Yet a democracy entails a common people with a common set of ideas and common institutions. But even among a common people, with common ideas and institutions, history proves that democracy is impossible. And so a "pluralistic" democracy is even more impossible, because there are many different peoples, with many different ideas, and different cultural values and different institutions. Thirdly, there is no so-called "moral history" of the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement was a vicious, socialist, minority revolution. That its leader was Michael King, Jr., tells us all we need to know about the so-called "moral history" of civil rights. The civil rights movement gutted the U.S. Constitution. And until we are honest enough to admit this truth, our country will continue to be enslaved by minority special interests and corrupt politicians. And, lastly, it is patently untrue that our Founding Fathers supported federal involvement in public education. There is absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing, in the U.S. Constitution authorizing public education. If Kearns and Doyle and Alexander will lie about this fact, it follows that they are capable of lying about anything. Well, that's all the time we have today. Next time I will conclude our message. It is called "The Brain Race." I hope you will join me again.
