GODLY ANSWERS TO AMERICA'S CRIME by Pastor Bob Hallstrom
President Clinton has dreamed up a new law called the crime reform bill. I haven't even read the darn thing and I am going to say that it will not reduce crime in this country. You cannot reduce crime by passing more and more laws. The only effective way to reduce crime is to instill in society a sense of morality which we find in the word of God and secondly by immediately taking action against those who do break the law. And of course, I am not referring to man's laws but the laws of God. It is only fitting that since the president is proposing to pass a new crime bill that we take some time and look at the laws of God and how thay could be implemented in our nation in this day and age. In recent years America's way of dealing with criminals has undergone drastic revision and, in my opinion, all for the worse. I also think the major reason for our change in thinking is due to the ignorance of our heritage and Biblical Law among our people today. For it is in the Bible we find the very law that our founding fathers built America upon, guaranteeing "liberty and justice for all." Man's law puts criminal rights first Today we no longer can say that we have this guarantee. If you are a criminal, the courts and the clergy will protect your rights, but if you are the victim, then you just have to expect to lose your right to justice. This is a sad, but true summary of our country's judicial predicament and it is amplified by godless courts and intellectual reasoning which has replaced the Laws of God administered by God-fearing courts. This trend of permissiveness is starting to catch up to us and Americans need to take a new and harder look at criminal justice. Just what is God's way of dealing with criminals? What should our national attitude be towards capital punishment, rehabilitation of criminals, integrity in public office, juvenile delinquency, education, honesty in judgment, and morality? Our land has been preserved and prospered thus far because we have been guided from our youth by biblical standards. The present criminal chaos stems directly from human reasoning and intellectual theory replacing the simple but sure Laws of God. The first thing we should note is that God, in His Law, always considers the victim first. In the case of theft, restoration is always made to victims on pain of death to criminals for refusal to comply. In the case of murder, the victim's next of kin is commanded to start the execution. So let's look into God's Law and see how simply and justly it deals with some of our social ills. Speedy judgement promotes justice In studying Biblical Law you will see that all cases are dealt with quickly and decisively, and without conclusive evidence the person accused would be immediately released. If convicted, the sentence would be quickly carried out. I should add that when a society strictly adheres to God's Law, there is no need for prisons, thus eliminating the waste of an enormous amount of tax dollars to house, clothe, guard, and feed prisoners. Today, the system we have puts the criminal in jail at the taxpayers' expense, who then must also support his family while the victim and/or his insurance company must bear the expense of the crime. This could never happen in a society that strictly adheres to God's Law. Let us first look at theft. In Exodus 22:1-4 we have God's Law for dealing with the thief. 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. The thief should be taken alive in the daytime (if possible), but at night he could be killed without penalty. If the thief sold stolen goods, he was to restore to the owner four or five times the value of his theft. If he still had possession of his theft after capture, he was to restore what he had taken plus an amount equal to twice the value of what he had stolen. If he had no money or property of his own, he would be sold as an indentured servant until he paid for his crime. Today he could be allowed to carry on in a job, keeping just enough of his salary to feed, board, and clothe himself, and the rest going to the victim until two, four, or five times the value of his theft was paid as determined by the court. There is no need for jails as rehabilitation would come during the hard years when the criminal would have to turn over his earnings to the victim. Today most criminologists agree that hardened criminals are MADE in JAIL and rehabilitation success is very low and repeat offenders high. Truly, jailing a human being is dehumanizing, and it should be considered cruel and unusual punishment not allowed by our Creator. "But," you may say, "what about the thief who refuses to work, who goes on a sit-down or a hunger strike and isn't willing to abide by the court's judgment?" Well, God in His wisdom has every condition covered. If the thief refused to work to pay for his theft, he would be brought to the judges and if he continued to defy the court's decision, he would be executed. There wouldn't be many thieves pulling that trick I can assure you. Although the Creator said that capital punishment is a deterrent, intellectuals and humanists say it isn't a deterrent, but it should be noted there has never been a second offender among those who were executed for their crime. Let us read this part of God's Law as found in Deuteronomy 17:8-13: 8 If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose; So, God's remedy for theft is quick, fair and sure. It results in restoration to the victim and punishment of the criminal at his expense instead at the expense of the victim and public at large (i.e., state), as is the case today. God instituted the courts and commanded that their judgments be upheld regardless of the consequence. This is why God's requirements for being a judge are strict and unyielding. In Exodus 18:19-23 we are given the structure of godly government and the qualifications for government officials as follows: 19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: So the first requirement is that the people must be taught all of God's laws; there are only about 760 of them and they fit all circumstances then and now. Leaders are appointed who are men of truth; men who have a respect for God, and they shall judge the people. Judgements, of course, are not to be made based upon the whims or laws of man but upon the laws of God. Then and only then can there be true and honest justice in the land. One of the problems with our society is that some people have little or no respect for the lives of others, and we see this evidenced by all the murders which are reported in newspapers and on television. One of the reasons for this increase is not because of pistols or assault rifles, but because we do not timely try, convict, and execute those who do commit murder. Murderers stay in jail for years and years before their appeals run out, and even then few are executed. Unfortunately our society's attitude toward capital punishment has been changed by intellectually stupid politicians and a humanistic clergy who have nailed the civil laws of God to the cross along with the sacrificial laws. A few years ago, there was no question about the just and godly doctrine of capital punishment, but because we have turned our head and hearts from God, the leaders of America, both political and ecclesiastical, have been contaminated by humanistic reasoning, making them appear to be more merciful than God. They have mercy (or so they would have us call such action) on the capital offender, but these same people rarely consider the victims or their families. This is another reason our land is in so much turmoil and confusion. America is defiled with the blood of innocent people and the only thing that can cleanse her is the shedding of the blood of the offenders. In Numbers 35, we find God's Law for the conviction and punishment of a murderer and it is plain that blood must be shed for blood. Let me suggest you read it in Numbers 35:9-34. The killing of a person was either wilful or accidental. If wilful it was considered murder and if accidental it was, as we today call it, manslaughter. The murderer was to be punished with death, and no sanctuary could be granted, no ransom taken for the crime, nor could the penalty be commuted. The murderer, as verse 18 states, "shall surely be put to death." This law comes to us from Genesis 9:6 where it states: "Whosoever sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed:..." There is no such thing as justifiable murder. It did not matter what the reason for the murder was, murder was murder. It also did not matter what type of instrument was used to commit murder. (Of course self-defense is another matter entirely.) However, a distinction was made between the murderer and the avenger of blood who has a legal right to slay a murderer. The avenger of blood is carrying out the law and therefore the life he takes is not murder, but a legal execution. It was the custom in those days that the nearest of kin had a right to avenge the death of his relative by slaying the murderer, and thus we see the phrase used in these verses "the avenger of blood." The law was that when a wrong has been committed, restitution must be made by the one who committed the wrong. However, in the case of murder, it is obvious that the murderer could not restore the murdered person to life; therefore the law required that he forfeit his own life. This was done as a matter of justice and served as a warning to others not to do likewise. But what happened if the death was not done wilfully or as we would say, what if it was not premeditated? Well in those cases, the death was not murder. Such a death would be one without any enmity involved, no planned death, no lying in wait to kill another, in other words, the death was accidental. The process of God's law is quite interesting, for the murderer had a couple of choices. He could continue about his business, and if he did so, he risked death at the hands of the avenger of blood for he was fair game as long as he lived. Secondly he could flee to a city of refuge and there be tried, and if found guilty of murder, he would then be executed by the avenger of blood. However, another curious condition existed in the law, which was that no man could be found guilty of murder and put to death without the testimony of two witnesses. Obviously this was not always possible, and in those cases the murderer could not be put to death, but his only recourse was to live in one of the cities of refuge for the rest of his life. And if he ever placed even one foot outside the city limits, the avenger of blood finding him outside the city limits, had the legal right to slay the murderer. This may sound like it would not be a very just system but let us proceed to examine the situation. The "two witness" law precluded any abuses which could occur, and certainly have occurred in our society. For example, if a death occurred, and no immediate suspect was available, then a person who simply hated some other individual, could falsely accuse the person he hated and the law would convict and slay the individual. That would certainly be a miscarriage of justice and so two witnesses were required. If we were to study the trial of Christ we would see that one of the problems was that there were no two witnesses in agreement against him and therefore the death penalty could not be legally imposed. But they imposed it anyway. Now let's assume that the person who was being accused was actually the murderer and yet there was no witness, or only one witness against him; then he was not killed but committed to a life in the city of refuge. Again at first glance one might say that this is too lenient and not good justice. But what the sentence imposes is one of life imprisonment in the city of refuge. The murderer can never leave the city for fear of his life being taken by the avenger of blood. And if the avenger caught him outside the city; no arrest need be made, no trial was necessary, the avenger already possessed the legal right to take his life and all that was necessary, was to find the murderer outside the city limits. We could speculate that some avenger might kidnap the murderer and take him outside the city limits and slay him. However, if this were proven, then the avenger became a murderer and was so punished. Notwithstanding that, what has happened? Isn't the murderer, in a sense, behind bars, as invisible as they might seem? This is comparable to being in prison and attempting to escape, and if caught, you were immediately executed: no arrest, no more trails, no more nothing -- just summary execution. Now I would suggest that is a pretty strong motivation to stay in the city of refuge for I don't think too many would want to leave at the risk of their life. Then you say that may have worked then but not now, and I am not so sure of that. For example, bonding agencies take a dim view of those whom they bond when they fail to appear in court for it can cost them some big dollars. So when a person fails to appear they hire a modern day "bounty hunter" to find the individual in order to recover the lost bail bond. I suspect the same thing would happen if a person were to leave a city of refuge. The family would either seek to find the murderer themselves or put up a reward for his capture, and upon capture he is immediately executed because he was found outside the city of refuge. Now what really appeals to me personally about this system is that it costs the people nothing. No housing costs. No food costs. No clothing costs. No medical bills. No cost for an institution and employees to run it. The costs to society are a big fat zero because nobody is going to support this creep. He is going to have to support himself. But let's get back to the manslaughter case. In the case of an accidental death the accused still had the option of going about his business or fleeing to the city of refuge. If he did not go to a city of refuge, his life might be in peril for if the avenger of blood felt he was guilty of murder, he could lose his life. If that happened the avenger was subject to the same law of murder, and if it was found that he had killed a man who had only accidently killed, then the avenger would lose his life. However, if the death was accidental the person could flee to the city of refuge and remain there in safety until brought before the congregation for trial. At the trial, there being no two witnesses to murder, he would be found guilty of manslaughter and allowed to remain in the city of refuge for life. But at this point the rules for the person who committed murder and manslaughter become the same as he was given a life sentence to live in the city of refuge. And of course he could leave the city of refuge if he so desired; however, he would do so in fear of his life being taken by the avenger of blood. And remember, if the avenger caught him outside the city no arrest need be made, no trial was necessary, for the avenger already possessed the legal right to take his life and all that was necessary was to find the convicted person outside the city limits. So by the banishment from one's own home and geographical area and confinement to a city of refuge where, for all practical purposes, he remained as a prisoner, God would teach us to envision a dread and a horror of the guilt of taking another's life and its consequences. He would teach us to be very careful with our tempers and our emotions and that these things should be kept under tight control. He would teach us to be fearful in our dealings with others lest by accident or neglect we cause the death of another. Frankly, I think if these rules were in effect we would see a decline of both murder and manslaughter cases. In our last article we looked at murder in the land and we learned God's rules for dealing with murderers and those who commit manslaughter. In these areas, the judgments of God are plain, simple, and irrevocable. There is no reason to stay the execution of a convicted murderer. There can be no pleas of insanity, either permanent or temporary. If the person accused killed and it was lawfully judged as murder, then that person must die, regardless of mental condition or any other reason. Remember also that judges are to "take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer," and that "blood defileth the land" and the only cleansing agent is "the blood of him that shed it (blood)." America is polluted today to such an extent that every citizen is in mortal danger of life and limb on the streets and in the subways. Yet, our statehouses are plagued with do-gooders and clergymen calling capital punishment cruel and unchristian. Oh, how far from the truth of God these people have strayed. Having saved these human animals from the penalty of death, they are directly responsible to God for the shed blood of thousands of innocent victims. But murder is not the only capital offense we find in God's laws and the following crimes are among those judged by God to be capital offenses:
Now that's quite a list and all offenders are to be put to death. Yes, God ordained these people for destruction, and yet man has the audacity to try to rehabilitate these people. In so doing man has placed himself above God, thus bringing the natural penalty Almighty God warned us of on our land. This is exactly what is happening today. And if we continue on this path of self- destruction, more innocent blood will flow like water. God considers the victim first Under God's perfect law of liberty, prime consideration is always given to the victim. In this way the law-abiding citizen does not have to bear the cost of someone else's crime and the criminal realizes that by his unlawful act, he has lost his rights and stands in opposition, not only to society, but also to Almighty God. Nowhere do we find God saying that we must pity those who must die for their crime. To the contrary He insists on a quick trial, judgment, and execution. This should be the Christian attitude toward those who commit capital offenses because it is what God teaches, regardless of what you hear from the majority of America's pulpits. Today, law in the United States basically ignores the rights of the victim and emphasizes criminal rights first and foremost, and the results are disastrous. In 1 Corinthians 5:5, the Apostle Paul said of a capital offender having committed the capital crime of fornication: "...this man is to be consigned to satan (i.e. put to death) for the destruction of the body..." This "consigned to Satan for destruction" is being put to death, and is a reaffirmation of the penalty prescribed in the Old Testament. I probably don't need to tell you that this penalty of death for fornicators certainly disagrees with the degenerate, pacifistic, and lethargic clergy of today who make a career of destroying God's Law and His people by their humanistic, anti-Bible, and anti-Christ doctrines. Unfortunately, as time marches on, more and more churches stand in opposition to God by opposing His system of righteous justice. However, I would plead with you to compare their views with the written word of God which were firmly established and taught by Christ and the Apostles. If you will earnestly examine the Scriptures, you will see for yourself the conflicting views of scriptural doctrine and contemporary Christianity. Then you must decide whether the Bible and God is true, or whether the teachings of an apostate clergy are true. Now I am going to address just some of the capital offenses named. First of all kidnapping. Kidnapping and how to control it In Exodus 21:16 we read: "And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death." "Stealing a man" is kidnapping, and it matters not why he was kidnapped or whether he was stolen or money paid to a slave captain. The latter is an accessory to kidnapping. The penalty was "he shall surely be put to death." Way back in the late 20's and early 30's, kidnapping was almost an epidemic in this country. When Charles A. Lindberg, Jr., the son of the great aviator, was kidnapped in 1932 the nation rose in anger. You see, in 1931 alone, there had been almost 280 kidnappings in the United States and most of the victims were children of well-to-do people. The public was so aroused that legislation sped through Congress, making kidnapping a federal offense, punishable by death if imposed by the jury. Needless to say, whether or not this is a justifiable law at the federal level, this brought the laws of man into harmony with the laws of God and as a result, kidnapping declined sharply the year following, and for the next 30 years was almost a rarity. Today the number of kidnappings in our nation are back to 1931 levels and the reason can only be attributed to the elimination of the death penalty. Yes, kidnapping is on the rise as are all forms of capital crimes, and this rise can be blamed upon lenient courts which have rejected God's righteous judgments by failing to impose the death penalty. In their recent decisions on the Lindberg law and capital punishment, the Supreme Court opened the door to another era of kidnapping and murder in America. By the way, high-jacking people on airplanes is kidnapping, and these people should be put to death. However, there seems to be glimmer of hope. There is a new trend in restoring the death penalty; however, God's perfect justice will only be complete when we speedily turn back to His Law in all capital offense cases. How to deal with the drunk driver We obviously do not find the crime of drunk driving in the scriptures but we do find a principle of law which can be applied to drunk drivers who commit a capital offense. Again, in Exodus 21 we are given the law concerning criminal negligence. Verses 28 and 29 state: 28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit. While the example here is of a man who did not constrain his ox, the same can be applied to a man who does not constrain his drinking, and as a result, causes the death of another person. You see the owner of the ox who allowed his ox to wander free of constraints, having been told his ox was mischievous, was willing to let his ox injure people. So the lesson is, we must take care that what is under our control is constrained in such a manner that it does no commit a hurt -- including an automobile. Just as the owner of the dangerous ox neglected to provide proper precautions for public safety and had to pay with his life, so should a man who fails to take proper precautions to drive safely for the protection of the public at large. And if he failed to do so, our highways would be made safer if those who are guilty of vehicular manslaughter due to drunk driving paid with their life for their negligence in causing someone's death. This is the righteous justice of God and God's justice will cleanse and make America a fit and safe place to live. However, Exodus 21:30-31 provides a way of escape: 30 If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him. This shows God's concern for the victim first by allowing "a ransom" for the life of the person guilty of manslaughter. However, he could not habitually practice manslaughter just because he could afford it, as he would come under the judgment of a habitual offender as noted previously, and be subject to the death penalty. Next we will look at a few more examples on how God's law would handle capital crimes in this day and age. Capital Crimes: [continued] In this article I will look at the capital crime of Homosexuality or Sodomy which is found in Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." I have, in past articles, addressed this passage in detail so I will not do so again, but I want to relate to you an incident I have had with another ministry on this subject. One of the most prestigious television ministries launched a campaign against homosexuality and I just happened to see that particular broadcast. It was a good broadcast but the one thing I noted it lacked was that it did not point out that in almost every state "homosexual activity" is a crime that is not enforced, and violators go unpunished. If we simply enforced the law it would reduce the illegal activity. So I wrote this ministry to inform them of my observation with a recommendation they inform the American people that the homosexuals are not simply sexual deviants but, as a matter of law, they are criminals and should be punished accordingly. The reply I received was shocking. For example, it was pointed out to me that these people were individuals and needed the love and the saving grace of our Lord, and that the comments in my letter demonstrated a general lack of love and compassion towards these individuals. I don't know what happened. I guess that somewhere along the line I became confused or perhaps I did not understand this ministry's position on homosexuality, like I thought I did, but I thought their position was pretty clear. But in any event this reply brings up a point we hear over and over again from our bleeding-heart Christian liberals. And that is, we have no love or compassion for these individuals nor do we try to preach the grace of Christ to them. To me, this borders on insanity. I realize that many homosexuals do not know Christ, but do you realize that all over the country there are homosexual churches who claim they are believers? That's right, they call themselves Christians. And yes, they preach and teach the grace of Christ and I guess from their position the grace of Christ covers their illegal behavior of homosexuality. Actually we should call a spade a spade. It's sodomy -- not homosexuality. One of the things I have noticed with the homosexual issue, as well as other issues, is that those who oppose sodomy are always accused of being hateful and uncompassionate towards these people, and this is the category this ministry placed me in. But you see ladies and gentlemen, my letter did not even address "homosexuals" -- it addressed homosexual activity. I did not rave and rant about this or that homosexual. I did not call any homosexual bad names. I did not address homosexuals as individuals, I addressed the issue of homosexual behavior; that is, the activity of homosexuality. And I specifically addressed the fact that any person who engages in that activity is a criminal, not only by God's law, but by the laws of most states. Can you see what this ministry has done to me? They have concluded that because I am against homosexual activity I hate homosexuals, and that I have no love or compassion for them, when that is not even at issue. The point I want to make at this time is that I do not hate the individual sodomite. In fact, I do not knowingly know any sodomite to hate. I don't agree with sodomites, but I don't hate them. I also don't agree with Catholics, Mormons, or Jews, but I do not hate them either. And I can assure that ministry that I disagree with their pastor on several issues and I don't hate him either. Just because I disagree with somebody does not mean that I hate them. But, now I am going to tell you a shocking fact. I do positively and absolutely 100% hate all forms of homosexual activity. But what's wrong with that? I also hate all forms of murder, and I hate all forms of child abuse. But just because I hate the activity does not mean I hate the individual who commits the activity. I think this problem of not separating the person from the activity when we address these issues is all too commonplace within Christian churches today, and especially in the media. We seem to have been brainwashed into believing that being against certain activities means we hate those who commit the activity. But this is simply not true. The press plays heavily on this concept of hate, and I would "hate" to see you people, that is my readers, fall into this same trap. If you are ever accused of hate, your answer should be, "I do not hate them, but I hate their activity." We need to get back to basics. We need to remember that God's law only provided for two forms of remedies against those who violated His laws -- restitution and death. The purpose for restitution seems obvious as people should be compensated for losses when damaged by others. But when it comes to the death penalty, we tend to think in modern terms, and that is, the death penalty was to punish the person committing the illegal act -- and that's not totally true -- at least it is not scripturally true. I would suggest that death is very quick, and any suffering is very short term, a matter of seconds, and does little to punish the individual. In a sense, death can be construed as punishment because life ceases, but it does not even compare with many years in jail or to life imprisonment. But I don't think God meant for us to punish people by robbing them of their liberty as we do today. And death, while shocking to the senses of many bleeding hearts, could be more humane than the long-term or life imprisonments we hand out. Certainly the death penalty stops repeat offenders, for no sodomite, having been put to death for his crime, has ever practiced his activity again. What I am suggesting is that the purpose behind the death penalty, as the only punishment for capital crimes, was not so much to punish the individual committing the illegal activity as it was to cleanse the nation of the unlawful activity. For if a person is imprisoned for the activity it does not stop the activity. It simply removes it from the general public and transfers the activity to the confines of the population in a penal institution. Another obvious benefit from the death penalty was that it acted as a deterrent to others. The reason I am telling you this is because I want you, our readers, to separate in your minds the acts of the wicked from the wicked themselves. You see, it is one thing to deplore or hate the activity and quite another thing to hate the individual. In addition, I would also suggest that we think about loving our neighbor. We do not love our neighbor by allowing murderers to run loose to kill again. We do not love our neighbor by allowing child molesters the freedom to molest again. And we do not love our neighbor by allowing sodomites to impose their unlawful disease spreading conduct upon others and possibly our children. If homosexuality is allowed to roam the country at will, then our country will turn into another Sodom and Gomorrah. And if it does, you had better flee, for God will again purge it from the land. You know, most of us love (like) apples but when there is a rotten apple in the barrel, it must be removed or we will lose all the apples in the barrel. But in removing the rotten apple we do not do so because we hate apples or even the rotten apple. We do so because it is a matter of survival for all the other apples and it is imperative that we stop the rot from spreading, and you cannot remove the rot without removing the apple containing the rot. The same holds true for homosexuality. It is rot and must be removed from our society before it permeates our whole society. Like rot, there is no way to eliminate it unless you rid society of those who are engaged in homosexual activities. Once again I am not "bitter and angry" against "these people," as individuals. If anything, I am bitter and angry that our society and government tolerates this fungus among us. Sodomy is not a matter of "forgiveness," "love" "compassion," or "hate," or even Christian witness, it is a matter of survival. Does good prevail over evil or does evil prevail over good? This is true, not just for the wickedness of sodomy, but for many other social ills among us as well. As a matter of interest, I once heard a Baptist preacher giving a prayer against the wickedness of certain people, who said something like this: "Lord, I would ask that you cause these wicked people to come to thy saving grace, but Lord, if this is not within your will, then I would ask that you at least cause them to cease their wicked activities, but Lord, if this cannot be done, then I would ask that you remove them, and if this cannot be done, then I would ask that you kill them." Now, that may seem pretty strong language for a preacher, but what are we to do with murderers? What are we to do with child molesters? What are we to do with sodomites? Are we to simply pray for them, love them, and try to convert them? Are we to allow them to continue in their wickedness? Is there no point in time when we must say -- enough is enough? At what point in time do we realize that "love, compassion, and forgiveness" has not worked, and at what point in time will justice prevail? Folks, God's laws draw lines, and when the line was crossed it was restitution or death. Now these were people who knew God, and while prayer, love, compassion, and forgiveness may have been in order, there was no need to convert them -- they knew God. They knew the law, they broke the law, and they were killed in accordance with the law. But the death penalty was not imposed out of hatred for the individual but in obedience to God, and out of love and compassion for the good of our neighbor and society. Yes my brethren, the death penalty for Sodomites was to cleanse society of those who endangered the peace, harmony and well-being of society by their wicked and unlawful acts. What God's Law says of the Occult We are still looking at capital crimes and punishments and this will be our last article on the subject, at least for a while. So let's move on to Exodus 22:18, for here we have God's Law dealing with witches or evil spirits. "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Those who would use, or be used, of such evil forces are to be put to death. Leviticus 20:27 provides us with a little more information of the subject saying: "A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones; their blood shall be upon them." Between the two verses we can conclude that those who practice witchcraft, astrology, or devil worship, or any other form of occult practice, are to be put to death and thus the land is cleansed of evil doings. God's Law concerning sexual sin The list of sexual sins which are capital crimes and warrant the death penalty are many and we will only mention a few. We find some of God's Judgments on sexual crimes in Leviticus 20:10-16 and most are punishable by death: First of all Adultery - A recent talk show was discussing President Clinton's adulterous activities, which were referred to by one person as "extramarital affairs," to which another person responded "we don't call it 'extramarital affairs' anymore, we refer to such things as 'extra recreational activities.'" So now "adultery" has become "extra recreational activities." In others words, in their minds it is just another sport like baseball, tennis, or hunting and fishing. But God's law does not see it that way nor does it tolerate such activity. Leviticus 20:10 states: "And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and adulteress shall surety be put to death." This would certainly end the age of sexual promiscuity and restore order to American family life. In fact, if this law were enforced, President Clinton would be pushing up daisies -- not dollies. Verses 11-12, 14 give us the law on incest: 11 And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Please note God's reason for extermination of offenders is that "there be no wickedness among you." It is not to eliminate the wicked person, it is to eliminate the wicked activity, and the only way to eliminate the wicked activity is to impose the death penalty on violators. But our modern-day intellectual geniuses think they are more knowledgeable than God. It is either that or they are simply calling God a liar when they tell us capital punishment is unjust, unmerciful, barbaric, and not a deterrent to criminal behavior. To call the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob a barbaric God, or unjust and unmerciful God, is nothing less than blasphemy, which also carries the death penalty. The laws on fornication and rape are self-explanatory and are found in Deuteronomy 22:23-27, and I will not list them here. But the principle of law in these cases is to determine if the woman made an effort to summon or call out for help, or if it was possible for someone to hear her cries if she cried out. Once the judge knew the facts, he would be obligated to condemn both, or the man only, to death, depending on whether he judged the case rape or adultery by the evidence. If she called out or if she was unable to be heard if she called out, the woman would not be punished. Today rape goes virtually unpunished. Therefore, something like one out of ten rape victims never even bother reporting the crime. Even when they do, they are often abused by the disbelief of an ungodly people and its ungodly "authorities" causing the innocent victim to suffer even more. Yes, my brethren, our city streets are unsafe for the female by both night and day. And I suppose this is an epithet of man's mercy being held superior to the wisdom of a merciful Creator who made death a fair and merciful judgment for the rapist. We, as a people, are flooded by an entertainment media that glorifies adultery and all forms of volent crime. We allow adultery and legal wife swapping (easy divorce) to prosper, and the vast majority of Americans indulge in these sins. How can we have national cleansing in this area without born-again Christians that love God's Law in control of our government? If it does not come to pass, surely we will continue to decay morally, wallowing in our own filth until we drown in that filth as did Sodom and Gomorrah. May I suggest that you take your Bible and a concordance and look up God's Law and judgments on all capital crimes so that you can teach your children, loved ones, and friends right from wrong, so you can keep yourself, through the power of Christ, from these life-destroying sins. America is being dealt with by God. America will be cleansed. God is now sending evil to destroy the evil created by our rejection of His word as the law of our land, and America can soon expect to see our God in action. Hebrews 12:26-29 states: 26 Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Yes, this nation will be shaken, cleansed, and purged of all the things that are contrary to God's word, for 1 Peter 4:17-19 tells us: 17 "... the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? We that understand the national message of the Bible know that God's Law will become the law of our land, and we know that we Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, and kindred peoples are the literal descendants of Abraham and heirs of the covenants, and as such our light shall shine. Truly judgment has started in the House of the Lord, a house we call Christian America. The wicked in our land will be destroyed by the evil they produce as God uses evil to slay the wicked. In Proverbs 34:21 we read: "Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate." In Proverbs 5:22-23 we are told, "His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray." Let us who claim to be righteous remember Proverbs 11:5: "The righteous of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness." Yes, God is bringing conditions to bear upon America that will force us to return to implementing the righteous judgments of God in His Kingdom nation. We are being forced by the evil among us to seek righteous answers and the day is coming when we will conform to God's Law because the promise to his Israel people is: and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezekiel 36:25-27 Behold, my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh who are Israelites, the day of America's cleansing is at hand. |
