Gay Rights? A Sign of American Decline ?

A decade ago, I was a guest on Merv Griffins show. Another guest was a woman who said she was a lesbian. (sodomite-Ed.) I listed for her, sexual behavior I felt was unwise, even immoral, and asked her to stop me when she felt I had gone too far. When I got to necrophilia and she did not protest, the audience gasped. Although that moment illuminated only one person's seemingly limitless tolerance for all forms of sexual behavior, I thought of it as I watched the hundreds of thousands of homosexuals and bisexuals who marched in Washington.

Is this it? If these people achieve their stated objectives (which include not only the right to marry and to adopt, but lowering the age of consent and allowing gays in the military), will this be the end? Or will other petitioners emerge demanding that their preferences or orientation receive similar treatment?

The open celebration of homosexuality represents a final disconnect from a personal God. If the barrier against societal acceptance of homosexuality falls, there will be no other that can stand. How can pedophiles be kept at bay if their "brothers" and "sisters" are liberated When Alexander Solzhenitsyn sought an explanation for the ruinous revolution that decimated his native Russia, he recalled what those who lived through the Bolshevik takeover had said: "Men have forgotten God, that's why all these things happened." Solzhenitsyn admitted that after decades of study, he could offer no better explanation. That's why it is necessary to oppose behavior one believes is objectively wrong and counterproductive to the society that tolerates it and to the person who practices it.

The shameless promotion of sexual immorality in the streets of our Nation's Capitol and the public blessing bestowed on it by the President are the latest in a mountain of evidence that proves this nation has forgotten God and is exposing itself to the grave consequences that historically have followed spiritual amnesia. A common malady of many nations that collapsed internally before being conquered externally was a melting of the moral resolve. Homosexual practice cannot be seen in isolation from other unraveling societal threads: 30 million abortions (baby murders) and counting, broken families, drive-by shootings, riots, drug abuse, a pornography explosion, over-flowing prisons, teen suicides, the list goes on. These are reflections, not causes of a descent into decadence. Communists outlawed pornography, homosexuality and other forms of sexual looseness. They knew that sex is a powerful force that if misused, can bring down a nation faster than any invader.

Theologian Carl Henry, who has lived through eight of this centuries decades, has written, "No society that disregards ethical finalities can long postpone ignominious collapse." Despite theological and historical revisionists, it is impossible to ignore the biblical standard for proper sexual conduct. God made us male and female for each other, not for the same gender. Old Testament says, "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable." (Leviticus 20:13; Deuteronomy 23:17-18)

In the New Testament, Paul describes homosexual behavior (as opposed to orientation) as "unnatural", and "indecent acts" motivated by "shameful lusts", and "perversions" (Romans 1:27). In I Timothy 1:9-10, those who practice homosexual sex are called "perverts" and "sodomites", and "among the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious." I Corinthians 6:9-10 includes "homosexual offenders" with the wicked "who will not inherit the kingdom of God."

The same book that condemns such behavior also offers a way out, as it does to all sinners. But how does one appeal to such eternal truths when the nation abounds with biblical illiterates and disobedient apostates? When a nation loses its power to resist immorality, it is headed for serious trouble. If America continues to decline, it won't be because of a faltering economy- it will be for the same reason Solzhenitsyn observed in his land: "Men have forgotten God; that's why all these things happened."

Why Keep The Law of God?

There are many important and logical reasons as to why the laws and principals in the Bible should be adhered to. Yet there are some who claim that there is no reason for abiding by such law. Thus, the question emerges, why should we keep Biblical laws, commandments and principals? The following subject matters are offered to help answer this question, and which each one should seriously consider and study so that "everyone be fully persuaded in their own mind" (Romans. 14:5) on this critical matter.

Obligation to the Creator

Man, due to the natural consequences of being a creation of God, owes an obligation to God to serve and obey Him. This is especially so since all that we need to sustain our life is created and provided by Godsunlight, rain, food, minerals, land, etc. Thus, our existence from God and dependence on God requires that we adhere to what He demands of us, or as the renowned English legal scholar Sir William Blackstone stated:

"Man, considered as a creature, must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator, for he is entirely a dependent being. A being, independent of any other, has no rule to pursue, but such as he prescribes to himself; *** consequently, as a man depends absolutely upon his Maker for every thing, it is necessary that he should, in all points, conform to his Maker's will"
(1 Bl. Comm. 39).

God, as our 'maker' or creator, is in essence a manufacturer who has made man and has provided him with an instruction manualthe Biblewhich contains the instructions for the proper operation of this created unit. No one would be so foolish as to purchase an intricate new machine and discard the manufacturer's instruction manual, thinking they can blindly and haphazardly operate it without problem. In fact, the user has an obligation to abide by the manufacturer's instructions, for the manufacturer's warranty or guarantee is not valid if its instructions are ignored or disobeyed.

The Bible is the instruction manual written by God (the manufacturer) for the product he createdman. We are guaranteed blessings and a prosperous life if its instructions are followed. The animals which have been 'manufactured,' have instinctspre-programmed commands God had placed in them which guide them to their proper conduct. But man, in place of instincts, was given a mind that was capable of comprehending written rules and commands by which he is to be guided. Blackstone says that "law signifies a rule of action."

The actions of planets, atoms, and sound waves are ruled or guided by certain physical laws from which they cannot depart. The actions physical laws from which they cannot depart. The actions and conduct of man must also be subject to certain laws. In both cases there is a "rule of action which is prescribed by some superior (God), and which the inferior is bound to obey." (1 Bl. Comm. 38).

Benefit to the Nation

The Bible actually conveys more of a national message than a personal one. The national message is intended to show a nation the proper policy it is to follow regarding the manner of laws, justice, government, economics, and foreign relations it is to possess. If a nation follows God's law, that nation will stand out as a great nation:

"Therefore be careful to observe them [God's statutes and judgments]; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.' "For what great nation is there that has God so near to it,...And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?"
(Deut. 4:6-8)

The laws of God will prevail above all other systems of law that man can devise as being the most effective and just. A great many blessings are promised to those nations that adhere to the precepts of God, such as rain in due season, abundant harvest, peace in the land, and a thriving economy. (Lev. 26:3-12; Deut. 28:1-14)

History reveals the course of nations in the manner they have acknowledged the national and civil laws of the Bible. The Roman Empire originally had as its foundation the ancient "Roman Civil Law," which was virtually a codification of Bible laws and precepts. Rome grew and prospered becoming the greatest nation on earth. Over the years these Divine precepts became altered, abrogated, and displaced with man-made civil law. Roman society became debauched, its government corrupted, and the elements of its culture lost, causing its civilization to fall.

By a principal established by Jesus Christ, only those civilizations built on the rock-solid standard of Biblical laws and principals can withstand the storms of history (Matt. 7:24-25). All of history shows that there is no other authority that a nation can rely on. The Bible shows the problems when a people of a nation "walk after their own thoughts," and in effect rebel against God (Isa. 65:2)

Divine Law is Perpetual

When the laws, commandments, statutes and judgments were reveled by God through Moses, the intent was that they were "always" to be kept (Deut 5:29), and were to be observed "forever" (Deut. 12:28; 19:9)

A rather recent doctrine which theologians and preachers have been espousing is that the laws laid down in the Old Testament were only a temporary arrangement and that the advent of Jesus Christ made them null and void. This false doctrine has a great appeal to the carnal nature of man, as it relieves him of responsibility allowing him to completely act according to his will rather than the will of God. Yet when men act according to their will or carnal nature, committing adultery, theft, drunkenness, murder, etc., these same preachers in their hypocrisy start to preach against the "sin" they are committing.

What is sin but "the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4). If one says there is no law that we are under then they are saying there is no sin, and they "make God a liar" (1 John 1:10) Christ clearly taught to keep the Moral Law of God (Matt. 19:18-19), and expressed the importance of adhering to the writings of "Moses and the prophets" (Matt 22:37- 40; Luke 16:29-31; John 5:46-47). The Apostle Paul also taught that the Law of God is to be kept (1 Cor. 7:19). All eternal principles of right and wrong are determined by this law.

If it can be taught that there is no perpetual law of God we are bound to, then all concepts of right and wrong will be arbitrarily made up by some man. It is well understood that the requirements to keep the blood rituals, ceremonial acts and sacrificial ordinances were abolished by Jesus Christ through his death and resurrection. But that concept has erroneously been expanded to encompass all the laws and commandments.

The Moral Law of God existed before Moses (Gen. 26:5), it existed after the death and resurrection of Christ (1 Cor. 9:9; James 2:8:11), it was promised to continue to exist in the future (Heb. 8:10), and it was made known that Christians were to keep that law in the future (Rev. 14:12). The truth regarding the immutable nature of the Law of God was revealed by Christ in stating;

"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. "For truly I say to you, that until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled"
(Matt 5:17- 18)

Here Christ proclaims the eternal and perpetual nature of the laws of God. They are as permanent and everlasting as the laws of nature. Since the earth is still in existence so are the laws of God.

The Resurrection and Judgment

The most important promise the word of God has to offer man is that of "eternal life" through the "resurrection from the dead" (Acts 24:15). The bible logically reveals that the manner in which we acknowledge and abide by the Law of God has an affect on the status of our eternal life.

The Bible clearly reveals that all are not to be treated the same in the resurrection, and much of that difference is based upon their acts and deeds in this life: "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His [God's] voice, "And shall come forth; they that have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation" (John 5:28-29, also Dan. 12:2)

We are all to be judged "according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Cor. 5:10). The only standard by which to judge whether deeds done are good or evil is the law of God (Rom. 2:12). That judgment upon us be not arbitrary or unjust, we have been told what the law is. Most will acknowledge that there will be a future state of rewards and punishments. None can be rewarded or punished except according to their works, or how they have kept the law:

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; ...and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works...and they were judged every man according to their works"
(Rev. 20:12-14).

The Bible clearly reveals that at some time all will be judged, and the law of God, as we find recorded in the Bible, is the guide by which we will be judged. It would make no sense to keep the law if there was no such judgment and the wicked were regarded equal with the righteous in the resurrection. Rather, God will give persons immortal bodies of differing glory as He judges them according to their works (1 Cor. 15:35-42,58). Christ tells us that we will be "recompensed at the resurrection" when we do a good deed in accordance to the law of God (Luke 14:14). Thus we will be rewarded in our resurrected life for keeping the law of God in our physical life here on earth (see Rev. 22:14).

Personal Benefits

The laws, principles and guidelines illustrated in the Bible are a proven standard to guide us in the various tasks of personal daily living.

The Bible answers every problem that will ever confront man. It can solve many of the perplexing situations in which we need to determine what is right according to our will or by what our heart tells us due to its deceitful nature (Jer. 17:9). In the Lord's Prayer, Christ said we should seek God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Commenting on this passage, Martin Luther says:

"Our will as opposed to God's will is never good. It is at all times wicked. God's will is always best. It is to be loved and to be desired above all things.... Without doubt the doing of God's will is nothing but keeping of his commandments; for his will is revealed by his commandments"
(1 Luther's Cat. Writings, 192, 273).

Doing things by our ways and will is experimental and very unsuccessful. But the Bible promises that if you observe and do all that is written in the Book of the Law, you then will have good success (Joshua 1:8). The Apostle Peter exhorts us that we should no longer live for the will of the flesh, but for the will of God (1 Peter 4:2). The benefits of doing so are obvious.

The laws of God were designed to be beneficial in nature, for like the Sabbath, they were made for man. Thus the laws of God provide for our prosperity and happiness, they give us wisdom and health, will aid us with personal relationships, lead us to freedom, liberty, and peace, and will guide the well being of our marriage and family.

"The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward"

Homos Demand Asylum

Three foreign homosexuals have demanded asylum in the United States saying they fear persecution at home because of their sexual orientation. The asylum petitions were filed by the Lambda Defense Fund, national homosexual rights organizations. One of the SADs is a Russian lesbian, the other is an Iranian SAD living in New York, and the third is a Nicaraguan currently living in Los Angeles who has AIDS.

U.S. Immigration law specifies that asylum may be granted to those with a well-founded fear of persecution in their home countries because of race, religion, nationality, political affiliation, or membership in a particular social group. It is as a persecuted social group that the SADs will be seeking asylum. No one expects the INS to grant asylum to the petitioners said Peter Schey, executive director of the Center for Human Rights, "But the agency is just a stepping stone to the federal courts, and there I think they will receive more serious consideration."

Homo Propaganda

Mademoiselle, the 57 year old magazine targeting the 20 to 30 year old market is going to be undergoing a radical makeover says editor Gabe Doppelt of South Africa. We are not encouraged by the March 93 issue that includes a special report aimed at post baby boomers titled : "Young lesbians - They're fresh, They're Proud, They're comfortable with their Sexuality."

Gay Bashing Fraud

Three Marines were acquitted of charges that they assaulted three patrons at a homosexual bar in Wilmington, N.C. The man who was beaten, Crae Pridgen, testified that the attackers yelled "Clinton must pay" as they hit him and two other patrons. But the judge, Jacqueline Morris- Goodson, ruled that the state had failed to meet its burden of proof.

Defense attorneys presented evidence that Pridgen was known to be a "tough guy" looking for fights. For the first time, "he met someone who wasn't scared of him." Despite the evidence that he lied, Pridgen is filing a civil suit against the Marine Corps.

The Truth Comes Out

Even Newsweek and The New Republic are admitting what has been censored for four decades. The 1948 statistic of Alfred Kinsey, that 10 percent of the U.S. population is homosexual is a lie. Exit polls during the 1992 elections revealed a figure of 2.6 percent. Andrew Sullivan, homosexual editor of The New Republic said "there is suspicion, even among gays, that the Kindsey estimate...is just wrong."

Kinsey's survey may well have yielded a 10 percent homosexual rate but his sample included a great many male prostitutes and convicts. Most responsible researchers indicate that the true rate of homosexuality in American society is at most 2 percent, possibly less than 1 percent.

Homo Hate

Rev. Louis Sheldon, leader of Traditional Values Coalition, had his home in Anaheim, Calif. vandalized recently. Sheldon has been a leader in opposing special status for homosexuals and has often been violently confronted by homosexuals at public appearances. In what police are labeling a hate crime, the home of Rev. Sheldon had the word " faggot " painted on his garage door and on the driveway.

Tampering with our product before it reaches the consumer is illegal, and by placing advertisements without paying for them is theft. Thank you for informing us of this little incident, whether it be real or imagined. We regret it happening, if it really did. Handbills can be reproduced (that is the whole purpose of them) and ANYONE could have placed them in your papers, even yourself or others from your organization. Is news that scarce that you have to create it with such juvenile tactics?

As for ______ , we thank him for providing us with our P.O. Box. That is about the extent of his involvement with STRAIGHT. We anticipated that we might run into little childish tactics, like this, to destroy STRAIGHT so we've taken precautions to make it as anonymous as possible. It's hard to imagine what some perverted minds can dream up. We didn't feel it was necessary to give perverts an easy target. We respect _____ for his willingness to provide the service he does for us. By the way did you know your paper is in criminal violation of C.R.S. 18-7-208? Thought you might find it instructive.

One thing we can do, is send a notice in our next newsletter informing our readers to refrain from placing our flyers in other people's publications. As we dig more into the book, "When the Wicked Seize a City" by Chuck and Donna McIlhenny, the more fascinating it is. We get a better appreciation of the reality of the religious war the Sodomites Against Decency (SADs) are waging against Christianity. Pastor McIlhenny is a man who has tasted the frightening reality of "Gay Pride" in action. He is a man who stands above criticism from the self-righteous sideline Christian because he speaks from painful experience. Quoting from page 60-61 of the book...

McIlhenny, "I don't believe there is any compromise possible in this war. The gay rights movement is militantly intolerant of the Christian faith. Faith is totalitarianit encompasses a whole world and life view. The "religion" of homosexuality clashes squarely and directly with the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament. One cannot hold sincerely to the teaching of the Word of God and to the faith of homosexuality even in principlelet alone in practice. As a lifestyle, homosexuality represents a holistic culture under the dominion of man in rebellion against God.

To speak of the faith-motive of homosexuality is not to say that one necessarily practices these unnatural sex acts as such, but it is to agree with the deep-rooted religious commitment to the so-called autonomy of the natural man.

To agree with the homosexual lifestyle is to completely challenge the biblical definition of man, the family (the basic biological unit of human existence), marriage, children, parenthood, etc. The religion of homosexuality challenges the fundamental structure of morality, the nature of the Word of God, and civilization in general.

The gay rights movement argues "live and let live"; yet, because it is a holistic life and world view, it refuses such equality to those Christians who traditionally and convictionally believe and live by the Scriptures. Gays will agree to no compromise or peaceful coexistence unless Bible-believers keep the light of the gospel to themselves. A homosexual-dominated society cannot tolerate "archaic or old-fashioned" values. The enlightened society must establish its own morality, despite the disease-ridden course of its end.

We believe that the homosexual rights movement is God's judgment upon a fearful and ineffective Church which has not taken an active role in our society. It is our deserved chastisement for failing to minister to those suffering in this sin and failing to take seriously the needs of those individuals struggling in sexual sins. Homosexuals have been the butt of jokes and humiliation for so long that Christians have failed to realize the seriousness of their personal and public rights as human beings...Nobody escapes the indictment of the Word of God, yet everybody under God's creation is divinely accorded respect and decency despite their sinful deviance: gay or straight.

[Ed- "Better is open rebuke than hidden love." Prov. 27:5] "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23). Nobody is exempt from the scrutiny of God's Word. Nor, for that matter, is anyone exempt [Ed - ?] from the equal promise of eternal life for all who REPENT and BELIEVE the gospel [Ed- and "be baptized for the remission of sins" -Acts 2:38]...The true Church brings healing through the gospel, which is not a pleasant "operation" to those who need radical spiritual surgery.

I don't credit the gay community for all of their political success. I blame the church for not standing for and maintaining the biblical message of morality in Christ. I blame the church for the moral depravity in this land, because pastors (including myself) and para-church leaders have too often failed to speak out against immorality in the public sector." [Ed- AMEN!!!]

The reader may note that we edited part of Pastor McIlhenny's quote. While we agree that grace is open to the homosexual and that they should be treated with respect and dignity it still needs to be emphasized that the Law of God still prevails upon the unrepentant and rebellious (1 Tim. 1:8-10).

The Common Law Maxims we quoted at the top of page 1 still apply and require that Homosexuality be outlawed in the spirit of 2 Cor 10:5. Christians need to love enough to, as Pastor McIlhenny puts it, be ready to "perform radical spiritual surgery," for those homosexuals who want to hear the life saving message of God's grace.

In our next issue we would like to address the issue of "grace". We must understand that this is war and we must be prepared to take repentant prisoners for Christ. All of us were once outside of God's grace and were condemned criminals awaiting the penalty of death. Upon accepting His free gift of amnesty in return for our repentance and obedience to His Word we likewise became prisoners of Christ. "For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it." (Matt. 16:25

STATE CALLS IT EVEN Colorado buys stolen property
JUBILEE NEWS REPORT

In an unprecedented move, the State of Colorado bid on and got property it seized from the LaPorte Church of Christ, LaPorte, Colorado, Pastored by Peter J. Peters.

Presenting a check for $11,203.04, the state went home with Sunday school furniture and audio/video equipment they seized from the church last April in a police-state tactic to "settle" a "debt" Colorado Attorney General, Maurice Knaizer claimed the church owed for not filing as a political action committee.

April 25th, 1993 was chosen by the state to advertise the auction scheduled for May 13, 1993. April 25th also happened to be the day thousands of queers and general perverts marched on Washington D.C. led by Colorado homos, a ploy Peters called "sweet incense to the homo crowd." Plans went awry however when the ad did not appear in the local paper until April 28th, 1993.

As a final insult and perhaps a means by which the state could save face for their unlawful deeds, the Rocky mountain News (May 1, 1993) quoted Knaizer as saying "a tentative settlement was reached with the church late last week. He [Knaizer] said he couldn't disclose the terms of the settlement until it was final. That's because there were no terms!

Pastor Peters made no "deals" with the state, writing in a paid advertisement entitled: WE DON'T SETTLE WITH EXTORTIONISTS AND PETTY CHURCH THIEVES "We have not signed the forms the state is trying to force us to sign, we have not paid the fine levied against us and we have not agreed to."

In the same ad Peters warned potential bidders: the property was stolen and to buy it would be the same as "buying stolen property from a fencing operation." The May 13th auction attracted more reporters, photographers and spectators than bidders. Police checked attendees with hand-held metal detectors and literally surrounded the site with swarms of officers.

Peters called the 5-year battle and its conclusion a victory, saying it cost the state more than it cost him, coupled with the fact that he and his church did not bend the knee to Baal and sign their forms. Peters and his congregation attribute their victory to the Heavenly Father, offering thanks in their May newsletter to those "who prayed and labored for us."

A fine of 10 bucks a day was ultimately levied against the church when it refused to register as a political action committee after sponsoring advertisements opposing a 1988 homosexual-rights measure in Fort Collins, Colorado the proposal was defeated.

Peters told the media: "We shall continue to speak out against homosexuality, and if the Fort Collins City Council wants to try to defy God's laws again, we'll be there once again doing exactly what we did before."
