Nowhere in the Bible are we allowed to link the things of the Lord with the things of Satan. Let us examine these Biblical prohibitions. 1) "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." [2 Corinthians 6:14-18] While this verse is most often quoted in the context of marriage, it applies with equal force to this discussion. " What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?" This precisely applies to this situation. How can we link Resurrection Day, and the symbols thereof, to the Satanic celebration of Easter, symbolized by the Egg? "What communion hath light with darkness?" Once we study how Satanic the Easter celebration is, and how closely Eggs are tied to this Pagan celebration, you will fully understand that the Southern Baptist Convention is linking the precious spiritual Light of Jesus Christ with the Pagan darkness, impenetrable blackness, of Satanism. "And what concord hath Christ with Belial?" The Holman Bible Dictionary says that "Belial" is a term for Satan. In the original Hebrew language, the word, Belial, means "wicked" or "worthless". In my opinion, this linking between Resurrection Day and Pagan Eggs is nothing more nor less than "wicked" or "worthless", as it links Jesus Christ with Satan. "What part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" Very few Christians would be so foolish as to accept an invitation to an Easter party from a group of Pagan worshippers; yet, too many Christians will buy these eggs and use them as part of their Resurrection Day ceremonies, not realizing that they have just accept an invitation to celebrate as the Pagans celebrate. 2) "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them ... And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." [Ephesians 5:6-7, 11] 3) "Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." [1 Corinthians 5:6-7] In Scriptures, God views leaven as sin or as false doctrine. The Apostle Paul is saying here that you cannot tolerate even a small amount of false doctrine within your church; rather, you are to vigilantly keep your doctrine pure and purge all false doctrine just as soon as you discover it. Under no circumstances are you to tolerate the existence of false doctrine mixed in with the true. Yet, this is exactly what the Roman Catholic Church has been doing for years, and what the Protestant Church has been doing more and more since World War II. You might think of a cup of coffee into which just a tiny bit of powerful poison has been poured. You still have a cup of coffee in looks, smell, and taste; however, you will surely die if you drink it. This is precisely the way in which false doctrine reacts when melded in with the true. This is precisely the situation in which we find ourselves in this example of promoting "Resurrection Eggs", a mixing of false Pagan doctrine with the purity of Christian doctrine. Now, let us examine how truly Satanic and Pagan the celebration of Easter with eggs truly is. We have discovered a witches site, called the "Satanic Witch", which you can find at http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/6877/ Listen to their description of the place which Easter and Eggs have in their Pagan celebration. "Ostara, also known as The Spring or Vernal Equinox, the Festival of Trees, Alban Eilir, Ostara, the Rites of Spring, and the Rites of Eostre, occurs between March 19 and 21 and marks the first day of true Spring. Day and night are equal on this day, hence the name Equinox. It is observed by Pagans throughout the world. For Wiccans and Witches, Ostara is a fertility festival celebrating the birth of Spring and the reawakening of life from the Earth ... The Spring Equinox was Christianized by the Roman Church as were most Pagan festivals of old. On the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Equinox (or "Eostre's Day" from which the name Easter was derived), the Christians celebrates their Easter holiday. The Christian festival commemorates the resurrection of Christ, synchronized with the Jewish Pesach, and blended since the earliest days of Christianity with pagan European rites for the renewed season. It is preceded by a period of riotous vegetation rites and by a period of abstinence known as Lent." Let us pause here for a moment. We have just learned from the pagans that the very name of Easter is taken from the Pagan celebration of the "Rites of Eostre". Reverend Alexander Hislop, writing in his monumental work, "The Two Babylons", states that the name of Easter was derived from the goddess Astarte [page 109]. In reality, both are probably right, because the Pagans have a history of worshipping the same gods in different lands under different names. Then, these witches have just told us that the celebration of Lent is pagan. Yet, today, we see many Christian churches celebrating Lent today, another example of linking Jesus Christ with Satan. Do not be deceived by these many Pagan holidays being brought into "Christian" churches. If your church celebrates Lent, you probably should be looking for another church, one that holds true to the fundamentals of the Faith. If your church today is celebrating Lent, tomorrow they will be denying more Scriptural Truth, until your church will one day not even teach Salvation by Grace through Faith. Now, let us return to our discussion of the Easter Eggs. These witches continue. "It is also believed that humankind first got the idea of weaving baskets from watching birds weave nests. This is perhaps the origin of the association between colored Easter eggs and Easter baskets. The eggs appearing above are a collection of Pysanky. Pysanky are the famous Ukranian Easter eggs, and are powerful amulets for fertility, prosperity, and protection ... There is much symbolism in eggs themselves. The golden orb of its yolk represents the Sun God, its white shell is seen as the White Goddess, and the whole is a symbol of rebirth." This statement is the clearest you will ever get from a Pagan. They are clearly stating that they view the Egg as a sexual symbol of union between the Male Principle, Sun God, and the Female Principle, the White Goddess. The Satanist views the egg as an amulet for fertility, prosperity and protection, while they view the yolk of the egg as a symbol of the Sun God, and its white shell as the White Goddess. This view is very consistent with the Pagan's worship of the creature rather than the Creator [Romans 1:25]. They view all the universe in terms of Duality of Nature, the Female and the Male principle, of just plain sex. Thus is their view of the egg. Is this tantamount to linking Christ with a prostitute, in His eyes? I think it likely. Now, let us look at what Reverend Alexander Hislop has to say about the Pagan practice of eggs, for this practice goes back centuries. Prepare to be shocked, and then be prepared to ask yourself how and why a "Christian" denomination could possibly embrace such Satanism! "The origin of the Pasch eggs is just as clear. The ancient Druids bore an egg, as the sacred emblem of their order. In the Dionysiaca, or mysteries of Bacchus, as celebrated in Athens, one part of the nocturnal ceremony consisted in the consecration of an egg. The Hindu fables celebrate their mundane egg as of a golden colour. The people of Japan make their sacred egg to have been brazen. In China ... dyed or painted eggs are used on sacred festivals, even as in this country. In ancient times, eggs were used in the religious rites of the Egyptians and the Greeks, and were hung up for mystic purposes in their temples ... The classic poets are full of the fable of the mystic egg of the Babylonians ... 'an egg of wondrous size is said to have fallen from heaven into the river Euphrates. The fishes rolled it to the bank, where the doves having settled upon it, and hatched it, out came Venus, who afterwards was called the Syrian Goddess' that is Astarte. Hence the egg became one of the symbols of Astarte, or Easter.' " [Reverend Alexander Hislop, The Two Babylons: Papal Worship Proved To Be The Worship Of Nimrod And His Wife", Loizeaux Brothers, Inc., First Edition, 1916, page 108-109] Now that Hislop establishes the great worship of the Goddess, Astarte, through the egg, he then shows the connection with the Roman Catholic Church. "Now the Romish Church adopted this mystic egg of Astarte, and consecrated it as a symbol of Christ's resurrection. A form of prayer was even appointed to be used in connection with it, Pope Paul V teaching his superstitious votaries thus to pray at Easter: 'Bless, O Lord, we beseech thee, this thy creature of eggs, that it may become a wholesome sustenance unto thy servants, eating it in remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ.' " During ceremonies with the eggs, the ancient pagans would eat the egg at the end of the ceremony. Thus, the Catholic Church adopted their mystic practice entirely, just changing the names of the gods to whom they are praying! But, this is the practice of the Roman Catholic Church for most of the past 1,500 years. They have adopted, wholesale, into their religious practice many of the doctrines and rituals of the pagans to whom they were appealing, believing that they were making it easier for the pagans to 'accept' Christianity. The Catholics also erroneously believed that they could take a Pagan, Satanic belief, ritual, or object, and 'Christianize" it by simply saying some sort of elaborate prayer over it! This belief is totally without foundation in the Bible, as you can find it nowhere taught or practiced. In fact, during Israel's history, whenever a righteous king would lead Israel into a revival, he would immediately set out to completely destroy all of the pagan idols, altars, temples, and priests. Let us examine a few of these Biblical instances. "And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD." [2 Kings 11:18; emphasis mine. Notice that they thoroughly destroyed all the Pagan altars and images. In some other instances in Scripture, we see that the Righteous Kings burned the objects with fire.] "The altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king [Josiah] beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron. And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men." [2 Kings 23:12-14] We encourage you to thoroughly read First and Second Kings, and First and Second Chronicles, carefully noting the many instances in which Israel drifted back into pagan worship. Note how God raised up righteous kings to bring Israel back to the worship of Him. Note that in every time of revival, the righteous King set out to completely destroy all the idols, images, altars, temples, and to kill the Jewish priests of the pagan religion. In no instance did any righteous King ever pray over these pagan things, in an attempt to purify them so they could be used in the worship of the One True God. You see, God is as concerned with how He is worshipped as He is with the fact that people are to worship Him. The principle with how to deal with pagan objects and practices is described thoroughly in the New Testament. Listen carefully: "So whoever cleanses himself from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences, will then himself be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work." [2 Timothy 2:21, Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary] You do not see any admonition here to pray over the unclean object, in order to make it useful to Jesus Christ. No, you see the admonition to separate yourself from contact with unclean, contaminating, and corrupting influences. Then you, personally, may be used by the Master for His good works. Never, ever, in the entire Bible can you find any instance where a righteous leader prayed over pagan objects and made them acceptable to God. Nor do you ever see where a righteous leader ever allowed any pagan doctrine to come into Jewish religious teaching, under any guise or with any changed names. But the Roman Catholic Church has done all this in abundance in the past 1,500 years, to the point where Protestant leaders as early as the 1600's were declaring that the paganism with which the Catholic Church had become saturated made her a prime candidate to be the Biblically prophesied Church of the False Prophet of the Book of Revelation. Then, today, we see that the New World Order Plan does, indeed, name the Pope as the new leader of the Church of the coming New Age Christ [Antichrist] (See our report in NEWS1052). In NEWS1161 (coming soon), we show that Pope John Paul II accepted the traditional Shiva parallel marking on his forehead from a Shiva priestess. The writing is on the wall for all Catholics to see: your Church is the Church of the False Prophet, and your Pope will be the False Prophet. How did all this come about? Because the Roman Catholic Church has been accepting into its bosom many pagan practices and beliefs over the past 1,500 years. [WBSG Ed. Note: Watchmen Bible Study cannot agree with the articles interpretation of the Pope and the Catholic Church regarding their end-time roles (though they both shall be on the wrong side of the fence at that time).] How did the Southern Baptist Convention then come to the place where they are advertising "Resurrection Eggs" in connection with the celebration of Easter? First, the Southern Baptist Convention has been struggling since the early part of this century with the issue of Freemasonry. When the American Baptists split with the Southern Baptists, one of the key issues of contention was that the Southern Baptists allowed Freemasonry within its ranks and within its pulpits. Toleration of the Paganism of Freemasonry has proven to be disastrous. This promotion of "Resurrection Eggs" is just one more example of the mixing of Paganism and Christianity. Pagans have no trouble with the concept of "rebirth", since they celebrate it every Spring like all good Pagans do; they even have no trouble believing in the Reincarnation of the human spirit, another type of Resurrection. What they have immense trouble in believing is that Jesus Christ was 100% Man, and 100% God at the same time, and that He died, stayed buried for only three days, and then Resurrected. Second, Southern Baptists have strayed far from many Biblical principles, including the principle of separating oneself from evil people and evil practices. We can easily understand how important it is for a person who is ill with a communicable disease to be quarantined to prevent spread to healthy people, but we seemingly cannot understand that this principle applies equally to spiritual matters. Listen to the Word of God on this issue: "If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine [true doctrine of Jesus Christ], receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." Here we are told to not associate with anyone who does not hold true to the doctrine of Jesus Christ, not to have him in our house, nor to even wish him God speed. To offer a person like this a simple greeting like this is to be a partaker of his evil deeds! We urge all of you who are currently involved in Ecumenical activities, including Promise Keepers; you are involved with organizations that have not maintained the doctrine of Jesus Christ in purity. You must leave that organization! Now! Third, the Southern Baptist Convention came to this point where they could promote the linking or mixing of Paganism with Christianity because we live at the End of the Age, when Biblical prophecy foretells that the Christian Church would go into Apostasy. Apostasy is defined as "deliberately moving away from doctrines and beliefs once firmly held, and defended." Listen to the Scripture. "But relative to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to meet Him, we beg you, brethren, Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept excited and alarmed, whether it be by some pretended revelation of the Spirit or by word or by letter alleged to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has already arrived and is here. Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first, unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come, and the man of lawlessness, of sin, is revealed, who is the son of doom, of perdition." [2 Thessalonians 2:1-4; Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary] Then, in verse 6, Paul concludes this subject. "And now you know what is restraining him from being revealed at this time; it is so that he may be manifested, revealed in his own appointed time." [Parallel Bible, KJV/Amplified Bible Commentary] We urge you to carefully, prayerfully, study this Scripture. In this prophecy, Paul reveals several important elements that we see being played out in our Daily News. Let us review these principles: The Antichrist has always wanted to arise, even at the time of the Apostle Paul. The Holy Spirit, working through the Christian Church, has always acted to restrain this desire of the Antichrist. As long as the Christian Church remained faithful to the teachings of the Bible, the Antichrist could not arise. One of the signs of the End of the Age is that the Christian Church will go into a deep and prolonged Apostasy, where it will repudiate the cardinal doctrines that they have held for so long. Then, Antichrist can arise. Once the effective power of the Christian Church is being weakened, then we should expect to see a corresponding rise in the occult preparations for the appearance of Antichrist! The deep and prolonged Apostasy of the Christian Church began about 1900 A.D. and was really set into motion in 1948, when the World Council of Churches was established. Consistently through the decades when this Apostasy was occurring, occult writings reflected tremendous energy directed toward changing the world to the point where Antichrist could arise! The Plan being advocated fulfilled Bible prophecies exactly. Finally, we see writings since 1975 which are excitedly pointing to the soon appearance of their New Age Christ, the Biblical Antichrist. Finally, when the Rapture of the Church occurs, Antichrist will be able to arise. [WBSG Ed. Note: Obviously Watchmen Bible Study cannot agree with their interpretation that there shall be any Rapturing of the Church!] When Antichrist arises, he will owe a great debt of gratitude to the many Christian Churches that have departed from the Faith. Therefore, any church leader who is a part of the Ecumenical Movement is paving the road for Antichrist! Any church member who attends one of the Ecumenical meetings, or rallies, is also preparing the way for Antichrist to appear. The Southern Baptist Convention finally officially joined this group of Apostate Christian Churches. This is the real reason the Southern Baptist Sunday School could so easily mix Satanism and Christianity in this promotion of the "Resurrection Eggs". This shocking development so clearly points to the End of the Age. It shows the height and depth of the Apostasy of the Christian Church, one of the clearest sign of the End of the Age.
